Anyway, it seems very interesting and positive, but my biggest disappoint was that they didn't seem to be reaching out for alumni participation.
Thoughts?

My thoughts are that this isn't exactly earth-shattering. He's basically piggy backing off of what he did at UWM. The Water Center has a significant UWM presence, and their real estate arm actually owns Innovation Campus.
The Strategic Innovation Fund is a good idea, but it frankly just might be a new branding of something that they have already been doing. (And $4.5 million isn't really all that much at this point. Hopefully that can grow.)
So these things seem like simple first steps. Steps the University probably should have taken a number of years ago, but the important thing is where those steps lead in five to ten years.
You can't assume that he won't eventually reach out for alumni participation. This stuff is in the very early stages.
Also, if you want to participate, Dr. Lovell seems very approachable. I am sure you will get some sort of response if you contact the Office of the President to offer your services.
Sweet, I live over by the research park in Tosa. They made that area look pretty nice.

Alumni participation=donations-------------aina?
Dick Strong built that park, no? Smart move out of the box as the costs can be shared across institutions to build the foundation. Milwaukee is becoming a college town on the Eastside and it needs a destination, research funds and jobs to reinvent itself. The city is getting younger every year.
