Title: ESPN Future Power Rankings
Post by: TAMU, Knower of Ball on September 10, 2014, 02:31:53 PM
http://insider.espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/11471111/college-basketball-future-power-rankings-teams-most-likely-succeed-next-three-seasons

Based on current positions and early recruiting ESPN ranked the top 25 programs of the next three years. No Marquette mention, not surprising considering last year's performance. Wonder if it would change if we landed Henry. Three BEast teams did make it in.

1. Duke
2. Kansas (which is interesting considering they have 0 2015 commits...they'll get them but it doesn't seem objective)
3. Kentucky
4. Louisville
5. Florida
6. Arizona
7. North Carolina
8. Syracuse
9. Michigan State
10. Michigan
11. Ohio State
12. Gonzaga
13. Wisconsin
14. UConn
15. Virginia
16. UCLA
17. Xavier
18. Villanova

19. San Diego State
20. Harvard
21. Pittsburgh
22. UNLV
23. Memphis
24. Georgetown
25. VCU

The rankings seem a little to0 heavily based on 2013-2014 (except for UNLV). But they probably aren't that far off.

I'm a little uncertain as to why Xavier would be ahead of Nova. Recruiting, history, coach, I just don't get it. Also, Gonzaga at 12? They belong on the list, but 12? Not 100% sold on Virginia, either. Personal opinion, but I think people have figured Shaka Smart out. I don't see them in the top 25 going forward. I expect them to be good, but not that good.

Xavier has a decent 2014 class and nothing for 2015. Nova has a pretty weak 2014 and 15 class. Gtown should be higher.

Yup, 5 star PG--jumps them to #12 in 247's 2015 rankings.  Another top PG at 'Nova.

Guess what -- little "stories" like these aren't objective. It's something for bored people to read.
