Haven't seen anything about MU making this kid's final 5 list (7/14/14 thread about us offering)- class of 2015, no 1 player in MO, no. 63 in ESPN top 100, combo guard-

I don't think that means much nowadays. Kids leave their backyards all the time now.

You are right, but I'm not saying that just because he's from Columbia.

Pretty much what I just said.
Cheatham has a tentative decision date of 9/5. If we land him, I wonder if there will even be room for Mr. Whitt.

I don't know the chances, but if you consider that MU is the first visit out of five and the last two visits are to schools who have been on him for quite awhile, I wouldn't think it would be great unless MU would blow him away and he commits on his visit Can't remember too many guys who have verballed to a school with the other visits left to his supposed leaders.
Let's hope Haanif Cheatham has a good visit.

He goes to Cal before us and last I checked he had no other visits scheduled.

Haanif is not 100% sure if he'll visit just the two schools or if he will decide on his birthday now.

My take on this is Haanif will annouce for MU on 9/5 unless something goes wrong with his visit. He is ours to lose.

Jimmy Whitt (4-star Combo Guard from Columbia, MO) trimmed his list to 5 and Mizzou made the cut. He's taking his 5 official visits to: Marquette (Sept 5), Illinois (Sept 13), SMU (Sept 19), Arkansas (Oct 10) and Mizzou (Oct 25). So Mizzou will get a chance to close.
Does anyone follow Duke basketball closely enough to know if they ever oversign? I assume that Wojo is likely to follow Duke's mo. If Ellenson and Cheatham sign, then Whitt, Bryant Crawford, Alstin, and Blakeney would all present oversigning possibilities.

I think he only oversigns, if he believes there is a good chance someone is leaving.

I don't think we are invlolved with Blackney any longer

Very Seldom

I know nothing about if Duke oversigns or not. But with over 500 transfers this offseason, I think it is fair for a coach to oversign, just in case of an unexpected (or expected) transfer.

Come on, TAMU, you had to know I was just being goofy. Which was my major, BTW.

Crawford is a very talented player. I would be delighted if we signed him.
@EvanDaniels: Jimmy Whitt will make his college decision tomorrow. Four-star guard that can score it. Talented passer too.
We made the list of 5 final teams.

Missouri?
Mizzou, Arkansas, SMU, Illinois and us.
Arkansas or Mizzou is my guess.

Mizzou
Arkansas
I don't think we can reasonably expect that we are truly an option if he is committing three weeks before his official visit with us. If he does however, than Wojo must have a beastly sales pitch.

Right. Or he knows the top priority is Cheatham and his assumed commitment...why even visit.
Too bad we couldn't at least get a visit
He's announcing at 5 tonight Milwaukee time. Just visited Arkansas.

Not a huge surprise, given how late MU got involved.
I think the staff feels really good about their chances with Cheatham.
Interesting...

So basically everyone besides SMU is still in the mix, nice scoop by Werner.
247 crystal ball leaning heavily towards Arkansas. I hope it's wrong though
You were right. Arkansas.
Wish him luck. We got in the game too late. Hopefully we reel in Mr. Cheathum

What's Cheatham's game like? From what I've read on Whitt he is more of an attacker who can score off the bounce and needs to work on his 3 ball. I'm hoping Cheatham can create his own shot as well, but that he can also knock down the 3. Plus, Cheatham is 6'5 compared to 6'3 so that helps.
4-star shooting guard Jimmy Whitt commits to Razorbacks

Arkansas Coach Mike Anderson built an early relationship with Whitt when he coached at Missouri. The relationship paid off on Tuesday.
