....on the highway. No stopping to say hello to Bazz.
Hope you didn't blink....
No, I was just thankful the highway expanded to 3 lanes at that point so we could pass people who don't know how to drive.
Bumstead didn't have you over for Q and sweet tea?
Did you feel your IQ drop when you crossed into West Virginia?

I am from northern Virginia. The IQ Mason-Dixon is the Shenandoah which includes both West Virginia and western Virginia. There is little difference.
We stopped for gas in VA just over the WV line and the woman behind the counter had the hockey player gap in the teeth. I'm well past VA this morning. Driving through Shenandoah is a very scenic and picturesque drive.

I am too from NVA but I thought the IQ boundry was inside the beltway?
Any Scoopers could have spotted me running with the wife on the streets of Buckhead Atlanta this morning as I was wearing my Marquette Track & Field t-shirt.

Well, inside the Beltway is the Lobotomy Zone so IQ is actually irrelevant...

Ha, this made me smile. But I wouldn't fly to Virginia when I've got the best barbecue right in my backyard.

Is there a Rudy's in College Station?? I remember when the original in Leon Springs was struggling to pay the light bills. It was a shack nailed to the side of a gas station out near Lackland AFB. I don't know C&J but Rudy's gets my vote for being an Air Force institution!
Rudy's is pretty damn good. C&J is a notch above. Great sauce.
Rudys does have wet brisket. Tough to beat.

We do have a Rudy's but I have to agree with RC. C&J's is just a notch above. We also have Buppy's, J. Cody's, and the Feed Barn. All fantastic Texas BBQ joints.
PAID has their events catered by C&J. Nummy.

I agree with you that Texas is full of incredible Q shacks. It really is splitting short and curlies in trying to determine which is the best.
I want to get to Franklin in Austin one of these days.

A great place for BBQ is New Braunfels, Halfway between SATX and Austin it has more solid Q shacks per sf than any place else.
I agree with the New Braunfels..been to a few in prev visits... We were just in New Braunfels for my Nephews retirement ceremony from USN and US Marine Recon for the past 25 yrs . He retired as Master CHief. While there, we went to Lockhart, TX for their highly acclaimes BQ City joints. We tried out Kreuz's and Smittys Mkt.. Awesome stuff.. Yummy All kinds of great BBQ in TX..
Seems like they focus more on brisket and sausages than they do on pig.

Having lived in both places I'm not surprised that someone from a DC suburb would have to feed his ego by insulting and demeaning an entire region of the United States. Perhaps the posts here should be related to MU basketball and not pathetic attempts to use fatuous insults to compensate for one's lack of self-esteem.

Good call on Lockhart. Kreuz's gets all the attention but I'm not a fan of the carnival atmosphere. I also think their 'No Sauce' mandate is absurd. For that reason I prefer Black's and even Smitty's though Smitty's doles out their sauce in such meager amounts that it is almost a game with them.
Another great place for Q is Luling. In my opinion City Market is the best. I typically give smoked sausage a miss but it is a must have at City Market. Their sauce is better than any other, too, but it is mustard-based so buyer beware.

Not surprised someone from western VA could not appreciate why a minority would abhor the thought of living on the western side of the Shenandoah. I'm sure you fit right in with the locals.

Do they have to have badges on their posts to make for other short comings, or is that just your thing?
If you have to tell people how great you are, you're not.

That "chick" is not from West Va. Those teeth have Kentucky/Arkansas written all over them.
Blacksburg ain't so bad.
Last time I was through there, a semi was burning on the side of the highway. Added a nice touch to the scenery.

One of the great images of life in DC is the burning cars on the side of the highways in SE and Anacostia. If your car breaks down on 295, the Suitland Parkway, or anywhere in SE it will be stripped then set on fire. Our Nation's Capitol.

Yea, but that's beside the point, dammit!
And in more unrelated, but "thinly related" former Marquette coach items, on Sunday afternoon in Jacksonville we saw a "guy" in Starbucks who for a split second I thought was Mike Deane. "He" was wearing a miniskirt and bra. My kids asked me later, "Hey dad, what the?!"
