is there any word on what, if any, position he may have with MU going forward? Is he ready to retire? He was a true Warrior through both of the coaching transitions and is such a character. Thanks.
I don't think he is associated with Marquette right now and I believe is retired.
When I was visiting with Juan at reseating I asked about coach Wainwright as he was one of my favorites. Juan, too, felt coach had a special rapport with the players-cared more about them as people and not so much as players-but wanted them all to succeed. As far as I was told at the time, coach Wainwright is retired.
thanks...
While I definitely don't/didn't expect any big show, I would expect a nod of thanks from MU to his contributions, especially this off season, a true team player... Perhaps I'm just a little ahead of the game and something nice is coming down the road shortly. The gomarquette web page doesn't have anything...

While MU did not do a release on his departure, he was given the opportunity to speak at the BB awards dinner in April. He gave a terrific talk and was roundly applauded.
He may not have wanted anything either.

I guess you got there on your own.
I also follow DePaul hoops a bit being in Chicago. The greatest compliment to Wainwright is even if someone disagreed with him as a coach, they always followed it up with "but he really is a great guy."
Good luck to him and congrats on a solid coaching career.
Wainwright is a rare gem in the sleaze business of basketball coaching. He always had the time to talk with you and the kids.
Just saw him downtown Milwaukee during lunch time two days ago. He said he's done at Marquette and is "getting too old" for this coaching stuff. He also said he's going to do some recruiting for the NBA, but did not say for what team.

Wonder what he is doing in Milwaukee if he's not working. He doesn't really live there.

Suspect he meant scouting, not recruiting.
