Post by: spartan3186 on November 11, 2007, 04:48:40 PM
Barring a really poor night. He has 991 points up to this point.

Had to comment.

Saw 127 hits...and no reply posts.

I guess that shows how much people are really getting up for this milestone.

When he scores his 9th point tonight, I will lead a standing O.

I will be in attendance. good for him.

Regarding the excitement for the milestone, this forum seems to think of DJ the same way alot of students do: they don't like him. It's pretty sad.

I've never had any interaction with the guy, so I have no problems ,but apparently alot of other people do.

I'm not sure why some people aren't into DJ.

I've met him personally, and he was very pleasant and outgoing. I only talked to him for about 5 min, so I'm not going to claim he is a saint, but he seemed nice enough.

I'm thinking that maybe expectations/hype were just so cranked up that there is a little backlash given the way he performed. He still had a pretty good year, but obviously not the type of year we were hoping for.

If he plays smart, takes good shots, and dunks on a couple of people... the fans/students will love him again.

Its not his game people don't like. Is the fact that he's an arrogant a_hole to other students. He thinks he's God's gift to Marquette and that people should basically bow down and worship him. I've had interaction with him a couple time he just comes across as very very arrogant. I love him as a ballplayer, and he certaintly is charismatic and knows how to say the right things around the media and alumni etc but when its comes to student interactions thats not so much the case... at least in my experience.

Amazing to think that if DJ hits, say 5% more of his shots, everybody wants to have his baby.

Fair enough, and I can believe that.

When I was in school Wardle was a jag. He's probably an ok guy, but just came off the wrong way to a lot of students.

My guess is that DJ is probably a good kid, but maybe a little immature which can lead to an arrogant appearance.

Also, these kids are under a pretty big microscope at MU. I'm not saying that every player is a great guy... but it's probably a little challenging to be super nice to every kid on campus.

Not to take away from his achievement, but I'd like to see him threaten the assists record.  I've only listened to the games, but judging by his assist total in the last two games (3 & 1) he's not distributing the ball very well.  For someone so quick and talented at penetrating, how does he not find more open teammates for the easy bucket?
