I am surprised he dignified the ESPN article. Interesting that Mike Hunt has offered more insight in two months than in the previous two years. I am now convinced the stories I heard about Bert giving Mike Hunt the cold shoulder must have been true.

Was thinking the same thing regarding Bert. Also, there is a 7-8 minute video interview (not sure if it's included in this link, didn't go to it) that just came out from MUTV on YouTube I believe and Wojo was specifically asked about the ESPN.com article, which is why he addressed it. I'm assuming this article was based off of that question/answer.
I guess that we can be grateful to Mike Hunt for bringing a "student being shot during a string of robberies" to the discussion. I think I see where the cold shoulder came from.
I guess not enumerating all the inaccuracies in the ESPN blog was Mike Hunt's way of being classy while it was necessary to mention a student being shot to maintain journalistic integrity.

I understand your point...to a degree. If the shooting went unnoticed then it would be a red herring. But the story was picked up by the national wire services and broadcast on the news as far away as Seattle. Like it or not but it is a factor in any recruiting scenario. I guarantee that there was at least one potential Marquette student who opted out because of that incident. The University mismanaged the situation completely - certainly on the PR front.
Mike Hunt asked a relevant question. I winced as I read it but I have to be honest that it is fair game. Mike Hunt is not a shill for Marquette any more than he is for the Packers, Bucks, Brewers, or Madison. Scoopers are a funny lot - unfortunately we do not have veto authority over any journalistic copy. Actually, on second thought, it is a good thing.
