A little insight on FS1 and its hopes to get some NBA rights:

Woj is a nice hire. Solid as they come and huge following, 550K+ on twitter for a guy who doesn't look to entertain, just inform. He's the Peter King of the NBA without all the trips to Starbucks or hotel fitness centers.
I laugh when people paint the FS1 situtaion as so dire. What were people expecting? They do not have any programming yet.
Woj is the best, most connected NBA writer period. During the NBA draft he is constantly tweeting the next pick correctly, while ESPN "insiders" are stumbling around...
NBA SUCKS!
ESPN and TNT retain rights for 9 years (2024-25 season).
To be fair Fox Sports 1 has been getting solid ratings from the baseball playoffs so far.

They were lucky that a bunch of distributors agreed on an output deal in the last 8 days or things would have been dire. 99% of fans had no idea that was going on in the background, but it came to the 11th hour. Most providers wouldn't have even had those games on for fans to watch.
No major rights are out there for a long time, at least rights that matter across the broad spectrum, so Fox Sports is going to have a tough time adding any broader properties...unfortunately. The leagues love it, another bidder to drive the rights up. Wait until 2017 when the wireless NFL rights come up.....strap it on because the 0000's coming after the $ are going to be ginormous.

Big Ten rights are due after 2016. But yeah major professional sports are tied up for awhile.
Get ready for your cable bill to go even higher.
