Poll
Question:
Which meme is better?
Option 1: Tackling Dummy
votes: 32
Option 2: Tanned Tommy
votes: 149
A Crean meme match-up for the ages. Tackling Dummy had a heckuva fight on it's hands in the 2nd round against Hyperbaric chamber, bu managed to put together a respectable victory against the well conditioned meme. Tanned Tommy pulled a mild upset in convincing fashion over the completely stupid defensive strategy(right Henry?) of Deflections. So the question is, which meme has more staying power?
Tackling Dummy
This one I'm having to go off memory as it seems to predate MUScoop(or at least I can't find it). Near the tail end of an already questionable season, lead player Travis Diener(senior year) was reported to have broken his hand in practice. This injury ended his season leading to MU having to go with Marcus Jackson at point forward and the results were bad. However, rumors started flowing out of MU that Travis had broken his hand tackling a football dummy in some weird drill former HC Tom Crean came up with. It has never been verified as a true story but that hasn't stopped every reported injury of an MU player to have been caused by said tackling dummy
Tanned Tommy
Many nicknames were generated for Tom Crean after his departure for Bloomington, Indiana. One that stuck as a meme was Tanned Tommy, referencing his amazing ability to always be at a perfectly bronzed skin tone throughout the long, cold, sunless winter's of Milwaukee. One wonders if Tom inspired Dick Bacon, or the other way around
Tanned Tommy, aka the Bronze Beast of Bloomington, has final four written all over him.

I love the smell of Hawaiian Tropic in the morning. It smells like victory!

I was just watching that movie on IFC last night....my wife looked at me at one point and asked if you had to be crazy to enjoy the movie. Wasn't sure how to respond to that one.

Great movie. I loved Conrad's work but Coppola really captured the essence of the tensions and lunacies that characterized that war. Duvall's Lt Col Kilgore is definitely one of the most engaging personas to ever grace the screen. It's easy to dismiss him as a shallow amoral cad but there is incredible complexity to him if you really listen to what he is saying.
As for how you should respond to your wife I have a personal encounter that might provide guidance. I was set up to meet a European woman who had been told I had lived most of my life abroad. Over drinks she remarked, "You are very American!" My immediate response was, "You're Goddam right I am."

That's a good one....I eventually settled on the tried but true...No, but it helps.
Tanned Tommy is the REASON tackling dummy is here.
The Travis story is 100% true.
I'd like to note that this one currently has 60 more votes than the other 3 active polls. 160's to 100's on the other three. Just an interesting factoid

I thought about this, and not to spoil the conspiracy....I think it's a result of this poll having comments and being at the top of the page before being pinned where the other three feel fairly far down before being pinned.
And I'm fixing this thing so I can make more cash cash money homes.
I did not see this upset coming....hope people didn't go chalk in their brackets.

I wasn't sure which way to call it. I thought it would be close....I was wrong.
I think this goes to show (as does the Mbakwe defeat) that longevity is important to the posters. It doesn't matter if at the moment it happened, one meme was superior. What matters is that the meme is still being regularly used on scoop.

I also think it shows that people will never stop hating Crean and will likely not stop booing him during the pre-game history lesson.
