I think technically for it to be a meme it has to be repeated by more than one person and more than once.....neither of those things have occurred so I believe both you and your grandfather are safe.

My take on it, is that for "meme tournament" to itself become a meme it has to be used as a an expression that is used on Scoop as short hand for something else, i.e.; "There's no need to make a meme tournament about it."
And, come to think of it, "meme tournament" itself becoming a meme isn't a paradox. Even putting "meme tournament" into a meme tournament while being a case of self reference wouldn't be a paradox. It wouldn't even rise to the level of circular thinking.

I stayed at Hilbert's Hotel once. I found a cockroach in my room. I asked for a new room. They said they were booked up. Then the hotel ceased to exist and all that was left was the cockroach. I then stepped on the cockroach and it too ceased to exist. Talk about a paradox...

If everyone doubles their room number you will always have twice as many rooms with every shift. But there will still be only one cockroach, that we know of. And if you kill that cockroach there will no cockroaches, that we know of.
Sure, anyone can get a room at Hilbert's Hotel but let's face it; who wants to stand in line the next morning behind an infinite number of people at the free breakfast buffet just to get a stale bagel. Pass.
