2014 7 footer Legend Robertin has just picked up an offer from Marquette.
Does anyone know anything about this kid?
Is he really already a legend???
:o
Buzz was recruiting also when he was at MU
Big, raw, pretty quick, shot blocker
I thought he had an offer for a while. Did you see something that indicated he received a recent offer?

I'm thinking that you're looking at something pretty old from back when Buzz was still making the offers.

Yea
I noticed earlier this week that he was still uncommitted. ESPN lists Tex Tech, Tex A&M, Coastal Caroline, ME,Wichita, and GW besides MU. 24/7 lists only MU and indicates that the kid has a "cool" (low) level of interest. Jeez, he is 7 feet tall - with that rating you'd think there would be more interest.

I doubt the offer is recent. Link?

He enrolled at Chipola. Looked like he was going judo and then 3 years at a place after 2015. That was last I heard.
Here's the scouting report on him from ESPN recruiting page. Surprised a big man that is ranked this highly according to scouts is still on the board this late in the recruiting season, but I'm all for him, sounds like a solid prospect.
4 Star - Scouts Grade of 80
Strengths:
Robertin is a long athletic post that is mobile. He has a good motor and runs the floor well. He has good hands and feet as well. Robertin is an above the rim finisher on the break and when he receives drop off passes created by dribble penetration. He rebounds well and blocks shot on or away from the ball. He touch is not bad and he can execute a right handed hook over his left shoulder. Robertin plays hard with good energy and urgency as well.
Weaknesses:
Robertin will need to continue to add strength and continue to develop his back to the basketball offense in order to take his game to the next level. He must also continue to get into game shape.
Bottom Line:
Robertin is an athletic post that patrols the lane. He defense is ahead of his offense at this stage of his game but has the touch and potential to be a good offensive player as well. Robertin has high major size and athletic ability and his upside is tremendous.
I like his parents' optimism.

Kid is originally from England. Was playing at Believe Prep Academy last December when Buzz offered. Believe is a basketball only boarding school located in a house in Rock Hill, SC. In a past post, IIRC, Sultan mentioned that it didn't have the best reputation. Here's a promo for them on YouTube, house looks like it could use some paint.

This
could be an example of the type of Buzz recruit that was causing some concern with the administration.

ESPN doesn't like to edit their stuff before posting apparently. Back to the basketball offense could be better? Interesting. I wonder how many people dominate offensively with their back to the basketball. Also, he defense is ahead of his offense? Nice.

Best part of the video was the part where the "Advanced Math" textbook (among others) looked like it was being used to prop up shoe boxes above the washing machine in the laundry room.

Dwyane Wade came from a fully accredited high school.
He was a Prop 48, but he still came from a fully accredited high school. Some of these prep schools are fine, some of them are screaming for WTF are we thinking. We can do better.

+1 ... Oak Lawn Richards is a good high school w/ a diverse student population -- probably a godsend for the kids from Robbins, like Wade, who are (or were?) zoned to go there
ESPN and 247Sports have had a Marquette offer to Legend Robertin for the last couple months, even before Wojo was the coach. I don't think this is new.

So you'd prefer a kid who can't qualify after 4 years at a good high school over a kid who does qualify in spite of having to go to an inferior one? At best that smacks of elitism.
It would be great to have another "big." Sign him Coach.
It's interesting to note that we are hearing about more and more "bigs" since Buzz left. Buzz had trouble finding players above 6"7".

I prefer a kid comes from a quality school, not one where the school is a sham. It begs the question why one would go to a sham school after high school? Remember, not all prep schools are shams, there are some that clearly are. I would also go back and look at the requirements for Prop 48 in 2001, that will shed some additional light on your rhetorical question.
If that is elitist, then that's what it is.

Actually, Buzz found this one. He offered Legend in December of 2013.
As Jake Barnes pointed out, Legend has enrolled at Chipola junior college. Buzz recruited him before he left. Wojo may be pursuing him still, I don't know.
Bottom line, Legend's grades were not good enough to get him into a D1 school. That's why so a 4 star 7 footer didn't have that many quality offers. Expect him to get a lot more offers next year when he can start using his grades from JUCO instead of his grades from his "prep school."
I suppose going to Chipotle is better than Qdoba.

I'd prefer a kid that doesn't attend a house to receive fake grades to cover up his awful ACT score. Is that too much to ask? It's not elitism, it's skirting the rules. Before I lost interest, all they showed were guys playing video games, working out and reading the bible. My goodness, the importance placed on sports is completely out of hand.

Just Win Baby
Minus the whole sham that this school is, I always been intrigued about a boarding school based around fitness and focusing on improving academics. Too many players from where I'm from got caught up with bad influences at home and wasted talent. It is a cool idea to have guys with common goals try everything to obtain them.
Pretty sure he was out of the picture once Wojo took over, but for what its worth he's heading to Clemson. Should be a nice player for them
Yup. Committed today.

Another example of the disconnect between Buzz and the administration? I'm guessing yes. Crean visited September 23rd. I guess even being at Indiana isn't a guarantee of quality big men.
