I noticed that Denver is in the BE for LAX. Where is the geographic outrage over a MST member??

I'm definitely not in the know regarding lacrosse, but I had no idea. Assuming this has something to do with there not being a ton of lacrosse D1 teams.

Exactly. Johns Hopkins is actually going to be joining the B10 as a single sport member in lacrosse.
It is actually DU. Denver University.

Actually, it is the University of Denver, but like some other schools west of the Mississippi (University of Colorado = CU; University of Kansas = KU, etc.), its short-hand moniker is DU.

Not true. University of Detroit Mercy has a team, as do some of the Big Ten.

Denver in the Big East is a good deal for us. They are a top 10 program.
Difference might be it's one sport. A heavyweight LAX program.

None of those are options as the Big Ten is forming its own lacrosse conference next year as it will have 6 members playing the sport (Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, Maryland, Rutgers, affiliate member Johns Hopkins).
Meanwhile, Denver is a national power (#7) in Lacrosse, and Detroit Mercy is ranked 58th out of 67 D1 Lacrosse programs. Once Hopkins chose to affiliate with the Big Ten, getting Denver was a no-brainer. Remember, the Big East lacrosse conference suffered from the loss of Syracuse (#1) and Notre Dame (#5). After Denver, the second-highest-ranked team from the Big East this year is St. John's at #25.

And with the ECAC collapsing after this season because of the Big Ten sponsoring men's lacrosse next year.
Denver needed a home. Big East needed a 6th team to keep their NCAA tournament automatic bid after Syracuse and Notre Dame went to the ACC and Rutgers goes to the Big Ten next year.
I have said previously that if Denver could grow their basketball program to a level of respectability, that they would be a great addition to the BE. Right now they aren't close to that point, being about a .500 program in the Summit League but they do fit the profile of BE schools.

Isn't strength of the basketball program 75% of the profile?
unnatural carnal knowledge Dayton.

Could they grow their basketball program to be very respectable if they were in the Big East?
Private school in large metro area in a good media market and east of the Rockies. Has a good hockey team in addition to LAX, so there's precedence for sports to prosper at the school.
Denver is definitely on their radar as a possible add for all sports....in the FAR future. If they build their program, the BEast invitation will come.
