Title: OT: Damian Saunders must like it at Duquesne...
Post by: ecompt on November 09, 2007, 11:09:48 PM
don't know how his classwork is going but he scored 19 points on 8-for-10 shooting (including 3-for-4 on threes) in the Dukes' 129-59 opening win.

yeah, here's the link to the story.  There's box score there.  3-4 from beyond the arc.  not bad.

He looks like he'll be a good player.

Best of luck to Saunders - sounds like he would have been a good one in a MU uniform, but that wasn't how the books were to be written.

yeah, this one stinks.
brother followed him during prep and thought we really had a sleeper with Damian.
don't care to revisit the 'reasons', but all in all still doesn't sit well.

as it's been said, best of luck to him at a similar urban university, with similar catholic values, similar enrollment numbers, similar time in the community, similar academics, similar, similar, similar.

kinda odd how he can be welcomed at a similar school despite whatever issues were out there.

whatever.

6 assists and 3 3's - sounds like a skilled 6'7" player.

However, we should trust Crean in this one. Low grades and drug offenses are not a good pedigree.

MU can work with the grades, with the academic support staff. But drug offenses no matter what the circumstances should throw up the red flag. That type of activities is not what we need.

Yeah, with DJ back and schollies overbooked, somebody had to get the ax.  Damien was the unlucky one.  I wonder if he hadn't been in the wrong place at the wrong time (in the friends car who got busted) what excuse Crean/the University would have used.  Oh yeah, they always have the academics excuse.

If DJ comes back next year and no transfers, what will be the excuse for one of our 2008 class?

Agreed, I'm not real high on this overbooking business either.

Fulce would probably spend one more year in JC
