spent 5 years at Miami U: At Miami, Kieger's primary responsibilities lie with guard development and the 2010-11 season saw Miami's star guard Shenise Johnson earn All-America and ACC Player of the Year honors. Guard Riquna Williams earned First Team All-ACC accolades along with Johnson and was the conference's scoring champion with 21.7 points per game.
The 2009-10 season saw the rise of one of the most dynamic backcourts in the nation. Johnson and Williams each earned All-ACC honors and became the nation's highest scoring backcourt.
As a player at Marquette, Kieger was a four-year starter and Marquette's all-time assists leader. She is the only player in program history with at least 1,200 career points, 400 career rebounds and 600 assists. For her career, Kieger averaged 10.3 points per game and was a second team All-Big East selection for the 2005-06 season, as well as, a second team All-Conference USA selection for the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons.

Interesting hire to say the least...

This is only the 5th women's basketball coach?

They've only had a team since the 1970s. I think when I was there, a nun was coaching them.
-
She will do very well. Had a couple classes with her and was a lab partner in one of our classes. Always prepared. Cum laude I think. She was a hell of a tough player.
-
Welcome home Carolyn!
-
Went to MU, no stepping stone
-
If she hasn't already recruited two 5-star big men by now, she should be fired.

If she's recruiting men for the women's team then clearly there's a problem.

Preparation for Organic Chem Lab = Winner on and off the court.

Communication major does not equal organic chemistry.

She was a BREC Major and BREC called them "labs"
sound and video editing, that sort of bullcrap
-
Had a couple classes with her, including one for BREC. She was really cool and seemed like an incredibly hard worker. Kind of hard to believe she's already a head coach but I'm sure she'll do well. If she could endure the inane tangents of Dr. Havice then, well, the Big East will be a breeze. (Wonder if Havice is still at MU? That guy was pretty bad. Pritty, pritty, pritty bad.)

Still there. Did a. Orientation talk for the Comm school. Used the word "bullsh! t" at one point and a couple of the parents looked like they were having a stroke.

Must have been the Comm Lab. ::)

Don't know about men, but unless things have changed from my day there are plenty of big women already on campus who could walk on.

Kieger is NOT a Polish name! WTF?
-
Oh my god!!! How exciting! Please move this to the women's board where the three people who do care will see it.

Prophetic:
After graduation, Kieger’s ambition is to play professionally in the WNBA or overseas and eventually coach Division I basketball. “I’d love to come back here to coach,” she says.

How can I not be excited for this hire when I now know she worked hard in a BREC lab?
Heavy Scoop inside info.

I am sure her salary is significantly higher than mine was (retired); worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 40 years and in an industry that pays very well. Graduated with a double major in chemistry and biology.

Communications degrees are to Marquette what C-USA was to NCAA.
-
I have a BREC degree and Havice as an advisor. I turned out OK. I think. And those 3-hour labs on the second floor of Johnston Hall were a hoot.

Hey, she's from Roseville, MN.
Isn't Rice Lake (Ellenson) just north of there by a couple of minutes?
