Little scuffle between the two tonight. I remember Joe Johnson getting ticked off at JB a while ago too. Guess his intensity gets in other guys' heads. Pretty lame move by Nene there.

In his post-game interview he said that (paraphrasing) Nene wanted him to back down, and he just doesn't have that in him.
True warrior.
Freakin love Jimmy Effen Buckets.

JFB now has an AKA in "black cowboy". I like.
Veteran professional move by Jimmy ...
Got under nene's skin, when they were face to face yelling at each other jimmy did not push, hit or physically provoke nene. Instead Jimmy must have said a few "magic words" because nene lost it and got tossed.
Then when play resumed, Jimmy hit a three to put an exclamation point on the event.
Jimmy may never be an all-star but he is still a stud.
Jimmy hit another 3 and then 2 FTs with less than a minute left. Made up big time for some poor shooting earlier in the game.

"The guy is built different," Noah said of Butler. "He's a black cowboy. I think that's as unique as it gets. He's one of those guys you can't put him in a category, and I love that because when a guy who plays that hard and really represents what our team is all about, for him to make the biggest shot of the game in the biggest moment of our season. I couldn't be happier that it's him." Does Jimmy Fox play Jimmy Butler in the movie version?
Someone should shop Bull's horns on the side of Jimmy's head

JFB won that game for the Bulls. Period.
He also won a lot of respect around the NBA, although he probably already had plenty of that.
The guy plays 48 mpg, hustles like no other, defends everyone from PGs to LeBron, hits some shots and "thinks" a good game. There isn't a team in the NBA that wouldn't love to have Butler. Not one. The Bulls better take care of him financially.
Love the Black Cowboy name for JFB.
Reminds me of another talented Warrior with a similar style whom Al once called the Black Swan: Bob Lackey.
He was about the same size and never backed down even to much bigger opponents. As I recall it, he was center stage of a nationally-televised confrontation with a very tough South Carolina team at their place in like 1971.

Like motherfooker, hey?
I saw a Vine this morning and when Nene gets head to head with him, JFB says "What you want" and that was enough for Nene to try to go all MMA on him. Which is hilarious cause as was mentioned earlier, he was clearly in his head and didn't have to say anything inflammatory. And then to come down and bury a jumper on the next possession? F-ing love it.
Jimmy Butler on Friday night represented what the Bulls have been all season.
They lost superstar Derrick Rose after 10 games. Then they gave away all-star Luol Deng for financial reasons. This week they went down 2-0 in their playoff series against the Wizards.
Then, thanks in large part to Butler, the Bulls came back to win Game 3 at Washington to maintain a chance to survive this NBA East quarterfinal.
Butler was shoved like the Bulls have been. He was head-butted. He was grabbed around the neck.
All that punishment was inflicted by Wizards forward Nene — yes, the fabled one-name Nene — who was ejected with 8:28 left in the game.
Butler?
He maintained his composure, played on and made big plays down the stretch of the Bulls' 100-97 victory.
A loss would have given the Wizards a 3-0 lead, and no NBA team has rallied from that deficit to win a best-of-seven playoff series.
"(Jimmy) got tangled up," said Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau of the altercation. "I thought Jimmy showed a lot of poise after that."
Immediately afterward Butler recorded his first 3-point basket of the series to give the Bulls a 5-point lead.
From there the Bulls had to hang on, at first unsuccessfully as the Wizards forged a 91-91 with 43 seconds remaining.
With the shot clock running down, Butler hit another 3-pointer to give the Bulls a 94-91 lead. Later he hit 2 free throws to make it 96-93.
Remember, this is a guy who played all 53 minutes of Game 2's overtime loss and conceded Friday morning that he was a bit fatigued. Not too fatigued to play 40 more minutes, score 15 points on just 7 shots and respond fittingly to Nene's roughing tactics.
"Just two competitors competing," is how the 6-foot-7, 220-pound Butler described to CSN Chicago his run-in with the 6-11, 250-pound Nene.
Competing is what the Bulls have done all season despite losing Rose and Deng. At Christmastime many expected them to miss the playoffs and qualify for the draft lottery.
"Just keep grinding," Thibodeau said of what the Bulls did instead.
Butler exemplified that spirit by taking what Nene was giving and then contributing enough big plays to keep the Bulls' in the series.
If not for Mike Dunleavy, however, nothing that any of the other Bulls did would have mattered.
"(Dunleavy) kept us in the game," Thibodeau said.
As characteristic of the Bulls that Butler's performance was, that's how uncharacteristic Dunleavy's was.
Maybe you have heard and heard and then heard this some more: Without Rose and Deng, the Bulls need someone to provide offense.
Well, that's what Dunleavy did and did and did some more. As Thibodeau said, "He made one big shot after the next."
Dunleavy scored 35 points, hitting 12 of 19 shots from the field, including 8 of 10 from 3-point range.
When the Wizards threatened to pull away, Dunleavy would step behind the line and keep victory within reach.
"Dunleavy played huge for us," Bulls center Joakim Noah said.
If Dunleavy was responsible for the Bulls remaining in contention, Butler was responsible for making sure they didn't let the game slip away when the fourth quarter became really wild.
"You have to keep your composure," Noah said of Noah losing his. "It definitely was a bonus for us to have him out of the game because he's a big part of what they do." So maybe the Butler-Nene confrontation was the pivotal play that sparked the Bulls' victory. "I'm really proud of him," Noah said of Butler. "I know how hard he works." How hard does Butler work? Sort of as hard as the Bulls have had to work this season. mimrem@dailyherald.com
Was awesome to see Jimmy come through like that. A clutch, smart player. Too bad Tony snell did everything in his power to take that away though. How are NBA players that stupid ? That foul at the end of the game was mind numbing.

Jimmy butler ... The gift that keeps on giving.
I love me some Jimmy Buckets. With Nene finishing that game and playing in game 4, I think the Bulls lose 4-0. Now they have a good chance to make it 2-2. JFB.
I hope Jimmy recognizes MU now that Bert left us.
Much the same scenario regarding Wade and Too Much Tanning Crean
Nene was taking it to the Bulls. This is a Series changer. Go JFB

Bulls remind me a little of last year's MU team. Just can't hit a shot. Every possession is like torture.
The main differences: Thibodeau hasn't mailed it in while trying to make a statement; the Bulls' PG at least has a chance to make a shot with the clock winding down; and the Bulls really do play great defense (as opposed to MU, which just had a reputation of playing great defense).
The differences are why the Bulls won more games than anybody expected and are in the playoffs. The similarities are why they'll be making a quick exit. Defense is important, but a playoff team has to be able to make a few shots because everybody steps up their defense this time of year.
The one game in the series the Bulls won came when Dunleavy played out of his mind and Jimmy hit those two huge 3s late.

Well, the real Bulls point guard just sits out when he is medically played to clear. Our point guard doesn't do that. The Bull's point guard's lack of "muscle memory" causes him to not even have the opportunity to take shots at the end of the shot clock, because he's sitting at the end of the bench. And he's played in about 5 games in the last 2 1/2 years. So there goes that dig on Derrick.

Well, I was thinking of D.J. Augustin, the PG who is actually playing. And I don't see how that part of what I said is inaccurate.

Just think it's completely, incredibly, ridiculously sad, and somewhat disturbing, that we're in a thread about Jimmy Butler and a little scuffle he had in the NBA Playoffs and yet you still find the need to try to rip apart a 21 year old college kid. So just pointing out that while an NBA point guard may be better than Marquette's point guard (shocking idea, I know), the guy who supposedly is the best Bull since MJ just chooses not to play because he has no "muscle memory." So while Derrick may be limited offensively, at least he puts in the work and plays when medically cleared. Doesn't just hide when he might not make shots. But hey, maybe it's just me who thinks it's classless to find any place to take a dig at a 21 year old who is a million times more talented on a basketball court than I am, and hence playing division 1 basketball unlike me.

Jeesh ... it is just you. I was stating a fact. I wasn't trying to "rip apart" Derrick. I have stated many, many, MANY times that it isn't Derrick's fault that he was forced to play a role for which he was not suited.

What was the point of "stating [the] fact" in this thread? There is absolutely no reason to bring up Derrick Wilson, whether it is to compliment him or attack him, in a thread about Jimmy Butler and the Bulls.

Well, the Bulls are kind of living off their reputation right now. They played great defense during the regular season, but its certainly lacking now. The Wizards are averaging 100 a game through 4, the Bulls can't stop Wall when he tries to penetrate, and Beal is KILLING them. Then you add freaking Ariza going bonkers the other day, and its a world of hurt.
As far as Jimmy is concerned, the Bulls need some depth so he's not playing 46 minutes. They also BADLY need a 2 guard, cause Heinrich in that role is just not working.
I don't think Buzz mailed it in to make a statement, either. The only evidence of that is on this board by people who think he should have played the young guys more.
