Going forward, Marquette must find its Shabazz Napier-type
With every curl he ran off of to perfection, with every 3-pointer he attempted with ease and with every transition attempt he confidently attacked the basket on, Shabazz Napier left those watching Monday's national championship in more awe than the play before. This wasn't anything new for Connecticut's senior point guard, who scored 25 points in a [...]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=painttouches.com&blog=28348875&post=11711&subd=painttouches&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" />

This is a well articulated and fact based hypothesis. If your definition is applied to the Warrior team, as we presently know it, the only player who fits the parameters you have laid out is Todd Mayo.
Or, so it would seem.
Nice read, but the title, how should I put it...

Oh, that's all.

Mayo isn't even close to Napier. Mayo is an average passer and doesn't have great quickness. He does have the clutch attribute, but when it comes to defense..... Mayo is not even in the same building as Napier. Mayo would find little playing time in UCONN's backcourt.
We have two, Derrick and Duane. Derrick is an elite defender and game changer, and I suspect Duane will even be more.
Comparing Mayo to Kemba/Napier is really not worth anyone's time. It's just ridiculous. Todd can be, and is, a productive player for Marquette but this needs to stop. Still remember the quote from a few months ago on this board, "We have our Kemba and he's wearing number 4 for the Warriors"...
The last time we had a backcourt of comparable quality to UConn's was in '03 with Diener and Wade.

I remember hearing the same about Dameon Mason. He was supposed to be our next Dwyane Wade. Christopherson the next Diener etc..
I find it funny how optimistic people are about next years team now then they were four weeks ago. The players all of a sudden look a lot better on paper than they did with Buzz. Wojo will be a huge upgrade but not right away especially with a new system.
Why can't MU recruit bigs? MU needs it's own Shabazz Napier type. MU needs shooters. MU needs leaders. MU needs post players. MU needs guards who can get their own shot. MU needs traditionals. Blahbityblahbityblahbityblah.

After we sign our Shabazz Napier type, I think we should sign a Bill Walton type and then a Michael Jordan type. Add a Kenneth Faried type and we'd be good to go.
Don't forget the Kobe, Lebron, and Kareem type to bring off of the bench.
Napier's a punk. He showed all the grace and class in winning last night that Crean showed after winning the Big Ten in Ann Arbor last year. Shut your mouth and be thankful. Most kids would just like to have a shot at playing in an NCAA tournament or playing at a D-1 level, let alone winning it all.

What a jerk.
I couldn't pull for either of those obnoxiously arrogant programs last night. Calipari is insufferable and the UConn players are insufferable.

Cal handled himself nicely after the loss. Was slimy, but I have a feeling Kentucky plus his ability to get players into the NBA leaves no need for cheating at Kentucky for him. Plus, Andrew Harrison seems really well spoken and under control of his emotions. I'm a fan of him.

I've got to say, from interviews I've seen, Julius Randle seems like a kid with his head on straight and class about him so far. I'm sure the NBA will ruin that.
