Title: Henry Ellenson
Post by: WarriorPride68 on April 07, 2014, 10:12:14 AM
Jerry Meyer said yesterday that Iowa, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Michigan State & Creighton recruiting him the hardest. Also that Iowa State, Baylor & Wisconsin were in to see him "recently".

For those who know; has the ship sailed? Haven't seen anything MU related in a long time

Hope NU can grab him. That would be a big get for that program.

You may have heard that our coach left. It will take awhile for the new one to get on the recruiting trail full steam

I'll vote for Creighton as I'm in favor of the Big East attracting as many solid recruits as possible.  It helps MU out in the long run, by making it a more competitive conference.

So MU has no interest then?

I am sure Wojo will get an audience with him in time.

It's safe to say that we have no idea who Wojo is interested in.  I don't think we will know for awhile until he's settled in.  Otherwise, he's going to spend his time developing relationships with the recruits for 2014.  There are 9 more days until the signing period opens up.  That's where all of the focus will be.  I think after Wojo gets an idea of who's going to sign, then we'll start to hear talk of transfers/other possible recruits.

Wojo follows him and his family on twitter from his days at Duke, so it is safe to say he will be interested in him. Wojo just has his priorities on getting his team for next season ready. Once the dead period is done, I would assume we will find out more on the recruits Wojo wants.

Folks I'm referencing the other end of spectrum...When was the last time Henry mentioned MU near the top of his list?

It's obvious MU will have their interest

Two questions:
Define "take awhile"?
MU hired this guy for his recruiting abilities, so how soon before he lands somebody pretty good?

10 days willie.  10 days from his date of hire.

So, on or about Thursday of this week, the 10th Wojo will have landed a good recruit?

Buzz/MU has been on him for a while.  JB has a bunch of posts on this.  Supposedly, his parents are positive on MU.

Once Wojo figures out where the mens room is, I gotta believe we will see him looking hard at HE.

Probably not until the summer. He needs to get the house in order before he starts worrying about the 2015 class.

I think we ought to start an email campaign if he hasn't landed a 4+ star recruit by the end of the week.

I had the impression they hired him for his coaching abilities. Assuming he was involved in any potential Duke recruits, I am not sure they would pick MU over Duke. I doubt he brings in any recruits in the late signing period. Besides that until someone announces they are not coming or staying we have no open scholarships.

Stevie Boy better talk with Ellenson. We need big men, who can handle, shoot and dish. Ellenson is not
clumbsey. I want him, period. One player to keep tabs on is Matt Heldt of Neenah. He just keeps improving.
Is 6-10. Heldt can rebound and shoot from the perimeter. Nice to have one these guys besides Stone.

Did our previous coach want him, go after him, etc?  Was any love shown to him by previous staff as a guy MU wanted?

Saw Heldt play against Stevens Point. Played a good heady game. Still Ellenson ranks above Heldt.

Someone nearing 20,000 posts who no doubt reads this board on a daily basis should know that yes, the previous staff had been up to Rice Lake several times and had offered him a scholarship.

I don't read every post, but appreciate the comment.  Maybe a better question I should have asked is how interested was Ellenson in playing for MU for Brent?

The more popular "mainstream" recruiting "services" still have Henry underrated.
