The inmates were running the asylum during his last year there. He had lost total control.

Someone is going to hire a very motivated Howland in the last decade of his career and wind up with a great program. It is a testament to the craziness of NCAA basketball that a Ben Howland is somehow viewed as more "toxic" than a Sampson and Pearl. Unreal...

The ACC killed the old Big East, no doubt.
Marquette hiring an assistant from the ACC for the new Big East has zero bearing on that.

Agreed ...
Seton Hall hired Tommy Amaker off the Duke bench in 1997. Was the ACC killing the big east then too?

Huh? MU hires an ACC assistant and somehow the Big East is on life support. Not sure I follow the logic.

Howland's ego and/or price tag is too big for him to take a smaller job. I would bet good money that he sits out another year.
Didn't the ACC just hire a coach who was essentially fired by Marquette?
