The national media sure loves anything Duke and Coach K.  I have nothing to back this up, but I just don't believe he gets all of these national interviews so quickly without the Duke/Coach K association for many years.  That's fine, he's ours now and he'll represent MU extremely well everywhere he goes.

Best Q&A by a national guy so far.

How many other candidates would have had an 88% approval rating on hiring day (both Scoop and ESPN polls), had unanimous approval from local and national writers, and gotten picked up by Gottlieb, Patrick, Van Pelt, and Rome within two days?  Is it possible for an impact hire to simultaneously sneak up and bite you in the butt?  Bill Cords might need a statue when all is said and done.

Dear Mr. Cords,

In light of delivering Wojo to the MU family, I take back all of the mean, nasty things I thought and said about you when speculation was growing about Counzo being your choice to replace Buzz.

Sincerely,
HutchwasClutch

The national exposure from Wojo getting a HC gig is incredible. It sounds like the fact that the gig is at MU is peripheral, which is a little frustrating as it's a missed opportunity for additional national exposure, but still this can in no way be construed as a negative for MU.

But he also wouldn't be getting this level of exposure if he was going to, say, Canisius. Going to a respected high-major school is part of it, especially one that has launched numerous coaching careers lately.

But wait ... I thought we had to hire a proven head coach and national name to be a "big boy school" and avoid  immediate and permanent national embarrassment!
