Title: WSSP said Cuonzo tanked his interview
Post by: mechaghidorah on April 02, 2014, 08:42:51 AM
The morning show guys mentioned how badly Martin did in his MU interview.  Seems like the job would have been his had he not stunk it up in the meeting.

I heard the same comment and actually was looking for more information on the topic.  However, I didn't get the impression that it was his job to lose based on their comments.

Also worth noting that the two clowns on WSSP in the morning might be 2 of the 4 worst sports radio personalities in the city.  I don't believe they are connected to the program in any way.

No. They are not connected to the program in any way.

Wickett can be half decent every now and then, but then he goes and puts on his "morning radio dj schtick" and just does lame jokes, overlaughs at himself/others, and runs things into the ground. It's really bad sometimes.

Chuck claims to be a big MU fan and remembers the days of Al...although whenever he tells stories he seems to forget (major) facts and what not.

But...they are irritating. Double but...they are the only local sports radio talk show in the a.m. and whatryagonnado sometimes but listen.

Milwaukee sports radio and MU is just not good. WSSP and the constant amateur-hour of Homer and the guys on 540...ugh.

I kinda feel bad for the guy.  I don't know much about him, but I watched some pressers of his on Youtube and it coincides with what those Vols fans were saying--he is far from a high energy guy.  It seems that even if he really wanted the job and he was enthusiastic about it, then that might not have shown because of his personality.  Perhaps the MU leadership thought "well if this guy can't sell himself to us, it may be that he will have a hard time selling himself to recruits as well."

The fact that Cuonzo allegedly did not do well in the interview makes me view him in a different light. In the corporate world, I often feel like the best interviewer might not necessarily be the best fit for the job, just the best interviewer. However, in the college coaching world, where a HUGE part of your job is recruiting, you better be able to nail the interview, as you're selling yourself as a fit, and it is very analagous to recruiting. Glad Wojo reportedly nailed the interview (same as Buzz reportedly did), as that gives me faith he will get it done on the recruiting trail.

Come on now, how can this be?

There was primal outrage that Cuonzo "publicly spurned Marquette" by members of this board. Well, at least one by with 3 degrees  :o

It's almost a certainty that the two final candidates were Wojo and Martin, the interview process had value because there was not a consensus, and Wojo's interview "completely blew away" those making the decision.  Whether that means Martin's interview was merely adequate or completely "tanked", who knows.

And once the 3rd Degree was earned the night of the Harvest Moon - The Gate of the Warrior Opened.

Blinded by the blue and gold light, a gentle hand From Father Wilde, extended.....

"Come hither my brother, the inner circle awaits!"
