Title: Tony and Dick?
Post by: WarriorNation on March 31, 2014, 08:11:04 PM
What do you guys think about this scenario:

We need an AD.  How about Dick Bennett?  He already lives in Wisconsin and wanted to be a part of Marquette.

Then we get Tony to come and work side by side with daddy!

Would this make a splash or what??????

I do not have any sources on this.  This is my own opinion.

What do you all think?

Come home Tony!  Lead us Dick!

They would have to come up with a new tempo stat because ours wouldn't even chart on the ones they have now.

They could also get Jack and Nick as assistants.  Nick was on Crean's staff as Director of Basketball Technologies and Jack won back-to-back DIII championships at UWSP.  Bennett Ball!

Would love this but I can't let my hopes go up.  This would be my dream scenario.

Isn't Dick older than Cords already?  It would be stellar except Dick is a hoops guy.  Don't see him giving a rats ass about LAX or Track.

Jack Harbaugh still lives in the Milwaukee area (at least he did during the Harbaugh bowl).

Ok, he's about 107 but he was an assistant AD or something like that at MU around 2005 to 2008 so he can get to MU without getting lost ... I think.

Then if we need a new coach ... er ... nevermind.

I'm cool with that.

Do people really think we would hire an athletic JUST so we could MAYBE convince one specific coach to take the open basketball coaching position?  Somebody who wouldn't even be interested in the athletic director position, does not need money (or already makes 7x more money than they would be making), and who has no experience in that position (Doc Rivers, Dick Bennett)?  Absolutely silly.

Dick Bennett does not live in Wisconsin.  He's a member of my father's country club in Lewiston ID and plays in the men's club there April through October.  I've personally seen him on the course the last six times I've been over there golfing over the last two summers.

Lewiston, Clarkston, Pullman and Moscow all encompass a twenty mile vicinity bordering the WA/ID border.

I can confirm he's not in Wisconsin and happily enjoying his retirement.

Not that it really matters but Dick also has a place in Wisconsin and plays a fair amount of golf in this state during the spring and summer months.
