Title: The Forecast
Post by: keefe on March 31, 2014, 06:51:48 PM
mediocrity
adjusts reasons to inspire
needless worrying

optimistic joy
opprobriously hardened
otherwise wasted

languid adventures
never deliver results
by end of the week

sudden usurper
reaches power rightfully
integrity stands

eloquent notice
affirms most expectations
the future is bright

Quite frankly I'm in the camp where I don't worry about the next coach...I mean I don't worry about things I have no control over. But, I am enjoying the search and quite frankly the fun it's creating.
Love the poems, love the arguments, love the possibility's, love the passion.

Spoiler Alert: No one on this board has any solid info. None. Zip.

Stop listening and buying into pointless speculation, and your life will be much better. If you want to make a case for someone, by all means.

All this insider info is about as valuable as a share of Enron or Lehman.

I'll stick up for Goose who was ripped here for offering thoughts on the coaching search. Goose and I communicate on other far more consequential matters away from this site. I will tell you that his family has been connected to Marquette for several generations. They send their children there and support it in other very significant ways.

And on this coaching search, away from Scoop he and I have shared insights and compared notes, then offered information that we feel is pertinent while respecting the confidentiality of those with whom we have communicated. We have tried to glean the wheat from the chaff as we have been privy to more than we shared.  We offer thoughts here because communication is the point of this board.

If 100% authority were a prerequisite for posting on Scoop then nobody could offer anything on basketball because not one of us can provide anything richer than humble opinion. (And taking a charge in a Helfaer Rec League is like comparing playing with an X Box flight sim versus yanking and banking in an A 10.) So MU Dish complains about people offering insight then turns around and critiques Sean Miller's game planning or Bo Ryan's coaching abilities!

Fact is Goose and I have no dog in this fight. We don't realize any fulfillment or self-actualization by sharing some thoughts. Our lives are not improved in any material way by posting here. We have never claimed or pretended to be 100% accurate because even Bill Cords will tell you there isn't any in a coaching search. anyone who has ever been involved in contract negotiations will attest to that.

As for the haikus, I am simply trying to communicate some thoughts in a novel manner that helps alleviate some of the anxiety and tension resident here. At the end of the day, a love of Marquette Basketball is something we all share but one must wonder given the vitriol spewed constantly at each other. Marquette basketball is not warfare or cancer and people should always bear that in mind before they go to guns here.

Is it my imagination, or did you just suggest we take things easy and not "go to guns" unnecessarily, before going to guns yourself against "dodds and jim ganzer?"

Not that is was unwarranted, but perhaps detracted a bit from the sentiment you were trying to create.

Setting that aside, who is the most likely to be the next coach in your humble opinion? Pick one of the following three:

Mike Deane (Part Deux)
Archie Miller's Wife
Dennis Green ("They are who we thought they were")

The haikus are great. If you go back and read them all you can get an idea of the candidates as they may have been discussed by Cords et al. It's not perfect, but I believe they have given some insight to the names being discussed by MU during the search. And the direction after things didn't work out. Some info is better than none.

We learned about Shaka. And we're told to aim high.
We learned about Bennett. Again, aim high.
We learned about Martin. Looks like he could be the guy.

The haikus were one way to show the masses that MU is leaving no stone unturned in a fun way. I can appreciate that.

You missed my point entirely. I was quoting the complainers rather than stating a personal view! Whether one does this for avocation or vocation there are some who will criticize and find fault. I am not hurling stones at Dodds or Ganzer in that haiku any more than I am at Goose.

And let me state that Goose and I had the same word last Monday that Ganzer must have. Our sources are impeccable and I assume so too are Ganzer's. Smart to MU was everything but signed. Goose and I didn't name names here because we were both told that, while agreed to, the contract wasn't signed. I get why Ganzer announced it because in his case it is business. Joe and I were surprised to see that the name come out; go back and read Goose's post where he opens with, "Well, since the cat's out of the bag..." which was added to his thread stating that MU was making an impact hire.

In any event, what has happened since last week is that it is much quieter since the Smart negotiations and that is a good thing.

Keefe, you can't have it both ways man. You're trying to come across as some insider, and to be frank, your "forecast" so far has sucked.

It's a message board to give opinions, absolutely. If you want to own a prediction, then own it. This isn't that f'n hard. "I think it will be xxxx" is far much better than forecasts, done deals, aim high, impact hires.

The perception you just proclaimed is far different from the one your advertising otherwise. I see through it, but the majority of others don't.

We're all just fans here. That's all any of us are. Time to act like it.

an elder's desire
rarely the younger man's dream
an age old story

So Dick would like this to happen but Tony isn't sold on the idea?

Some guys will bitch about a blow job...

Yeah... it's the girl's fault it was so quick.

I hated Haiku in school, but this has been entertaining.

Yeah... it's the girl's fault it was so quick.

When I was flying Prowlers at NAS Atsugi for an exchange tour we had a squadron party at one of the houses. One of the pilot's wives had just gotten word that week that she had some issue that would require having all of her teeth pulled and would need to wear dentures going forward. The women were all huddled around her, all of them crying as they consoled the grief-stricken wife. Meanwhile, the guys were all out on the patio guzzling beer and throwing high fives at the smiling husband who was feeling rather blessed at his incredible good fortune for the bedroom.

keefe seems to know what's up.  He was right on no martin.  I assume the above about the father and son is coach K and Wojo.
Maybe Keefe can inform us, somewhat.

For the record, I do like the Haiku and hidden messages for stuff like this. If a crertain tweeter put things our there in a way that was less than done deal/new coach, I wonder if SS would be at MU,  Maybe the leak didn't matter, I dont know, but it couldn't have helped the process.
