Title: Question for Chicos re: the process
Post by: PuertoRicanNightmare on March 31, 2014, 02:22:21 PM
I know Chicos was critical of the process that led to us hiring Buzz. IIRC, he thought we should've waited a while longer. I'm wondering what he thinks about how things are being handled this time around.

I stated the other day, I'm fine with the timeline as long as you can keep the leaks tight.  The problem with Buzz hiring is that you could have gotten him whenever you wanted.  The danger or making it go on too long is it looks like no one wants the job.

So far, I'm fine with the timing....that also assumes we end up with someone decent.  Now, if this goes on another 2 weeks and we get Wardle or someone like that, well then that tells us all we need to know.

So let's see how it goes.

Respect the process.

I agree with Chicos, the process so far has been good and, more or less, air tight.

It appears the following is true. Smart was closer to doing the deal than VCU is willing to admit, and a bit further than the MU folks thought. Buyer's remorse on his part?

Howland, appears to have too much baggage for MU. His player problems the last two years?

Cuonzo, "removed name" (himself) from consideration. Usually in hiring an executive this means he was not going to be offered the position and took the high ground out. Why else would he want to return to Knoxville and be beat-up?

So is the "mojo" with Wojo? While it fits Cords past behaviour pattern, this selection does not seem to fit what the MU administration has been saying. Does it matter what the administration says are its parameters for hiring?

The puzzle for me is Gregg Marshall. The guy no kid at 51 years old and has a long track record that is "impact" in nature. Milwaukee can be grim in winter, but all of Kansas is grim all of the time. The knock on him seems to to be that he does not have an endearing personality. We had one of those. Do we need another "Miss Congeniality?"

Anyway, no one really knows what it going on inside the Marquette search. That is the way it should be. However, a decision needs to be made by the 15 April sports banquette. Otherwise, Marquette will look like a bunch of goof-balls and people and people who should not be taken seriously.

BC and Wake haven't named a coach that gives me some comfort that they are taking their time and not grabbing a candidate who has "passed" up MU.
