Are we stuck with Wardle?
I am warming to the idea of Martin. And he'd be the best former player we've had since McGuire, although I think Deane may have been a decent player at one time.
I'll be a Martin fan then. He will have done us a favor.

Give us a realistic possibility.
We offer the job to deane and his dark glasses. Anyone that can hit 100 posts that quickly surely can keep us relevant. Hopefully he will make his adjustments in the 1st half.
And install the offense before February.

He certainly will be out of time-outs before the first tv break.
Danny Manning would be a good option

I've been saying that name since last week, but his name hasn't ever been mentioned by anyone who seems to be getting information...cue "I am the source."
In less than 72 hours we've gone from "No way to Cuonzo Martin" to "I guess I'd be OK with Cuonzo Martin" to "OMG, what if we can't land Cuonzo Martin????"
Things are moving fast....

That's awesome.
There are some similarities between this hiring and the last, wherein if we strike out with our first two choices we simply throw our hands up and hire the guy who is "here" in Buzz and Wardle.
Now it worked out last time but I'm not sure I want to test that path again.
I say this whether Martin is our second choice or not.

got to love lowered expectations
Argh. Thought this post was going to be about something else.
Anyway: Ben Ben Ben Ben, Bennie Ben Ben Ben.
Danny Manning is my number one.
But I like Cuonzo. Give him MU's resources and he can work wonders. He has a fantastic assistant crew as well. John Harris and Tracy Webster (former top recruiter for Illinois)
I have been wondering, if Wardle would be smart enough to turn the MU job down. I do not think he will recruit well enought to be successful at MU, which means he is out of coaching in 5 years or less. In my opinion he would be crazy to take the MU job.

Yea, you're right. I mean, I doubt Martin comes here.
You know, I think I'd be OK with Brian Wardle.
Pastner, Cronin, Stephens, Martin or Manning. Which one.
CRONIN
Guys, we're never getting a coach. Let's be honest here.

Cronin is a Cincy native. No. Pastner? No if Howland turns them off already.
I like Martin and Manning. I like Stephens too but I don't want to wait another week.
Someone on the Scout board is relaying information from what they claim is a Tenn insider that "They feel there is a very good chance that Martin will leave." I know the term "insider" has been used so much it begs phony but ...
By the way the tweet earlier today that Tenn recruits had been told to "ignore the rumors that Martin would leave". I would file that under What do you expect them to tweet. If anything that tweet makes it look even more likely that they are taking seriously the fact he might leave.

I don't care if he leaves UT...as long as he doesn't end up here.
A meeting took place today with Cuonzo. Its up to Tennessee if they want to keep him, otherwise hes all ours

After a couple sweet sixteens and an elite eight, having to stoop so low that you meet with Cuonzo Martin?
MU must have really, truly counted on Shaka Smart because they're at the bottom of the barrel with Cuonzo.
And now I don't doubt those people who were saying Shaka was a lock.
Just sign Ben Howland and get yourself a guy who can actually coach. This isn't as hard as MU is making it out to be.
Now I'm gettin pissed!
Howland or Martin. Yeahhhh that's a toughy.
C'mon Cords!!!!

You lost your mind with this post. Cuonzo CAN coach. Upgrade from Brent thats for sure
Out of all the coaches talked about, Ben Howland makes the most logical sense, given his past success and recruits. I don't understand why Marquette is making this so difficult. Just hire Howland.

Doesn't pass the sniff test. I wouldn't be surprised to see several schools pass on Howland.
But Cuonzo Martin does? It would be a big risk to hire this guy. At this point, I'm not sure if we can take the risk. Howland is the safe pick
We take Cuonzo. TN gets Ben. Thats MY prediction.

The sniff test is to determine whether or not the coach is "dirty" or "squirmy" is the word I think scoopers like to use.
Howland comes with some baggage. And what I am hearing from friends who have worked with him in the past would make your skin crawl. Since you are new here, I work with the athletic department down here at Texas A&M. Have had the opportunity to make friends with contacts at several different universities...including UCLA.
Martin is as clean as they come.

Any info on Wojo?

I change my mind on Howland then...I still don't know about Cuonzo. Wojo looks more appealing to me.

Way too good to be an assistant. Seems clean but when you work for Coach K, you never really get investigated that thoroughly. Players seem to love him.

Based on the post I read that showed Wojo's recruiting past, I don't think he'd be the candidate to land Diamond Stone. Plus, do we really want to watch a team jack up 3's all of the time? Duke's teams of late have been pretty soft on the inside and have relied on the 3 too much for my liking. I want a coach that will bring in a 6'10" guy and develop him into a beast in the paint and get that PG that can run a decent offense.
What if Martin doesn't want the job? Well, that's OK, lots of Scoopers don't want him anyway. He would ruin the program, be an embarrassment, etc.
Of course, lots of Scoopers also don't want Wojo, Weber, Wardle, Manning, Howland, Hopkins, etc., etc., etc.
We didn't get Shaka, so I guess it's time to close up shop and be a lacrosse school.

Saw this earlier tonight. Nothing is set in stone yet. Tennessee has the ball in their court now.
Here's hoping UT has one or two people in charge that are as dumb as people at MU.
