I appreciate the passion that our fan base is showing especially after a down year. However, over the past week I've grown tired of anyone who says they have "inside info" or "a source" posting a message and the rest eating it up. Unless i know who a source is, i don't trust it. Everyone has been hanging on posts from several members without any indication that they have solid sources. I think it really is time for us to just accept the fact that no one will know until it is released by the national media.
and yes, i am calling out some of you.
I have inside info that this is going to be a great hire... do you believe me? why not? we've believed everyone else who posts a vague statement.
+1000.
So why are reading this board?
Yeah, no reason to be here until it's announced.

So why are reading this board?
i'm sorry, i didn't realize this board is only for slobbering the knob of people with supposed inside info. i thought it was a place to read about marquette basketball.

Would you prefer people in the know didn't post whay they're hearing? I wouldn't. Why do people take info that doesn't materialize as a personal insult?? I prefer to appreciate it
Nope. You have secretaries answering phones, people working at the Al, janitors sweeping floors. These people hear things, and they tell their friends and relatives. Do all the things they hear come true? Of course not, but at least we get info a lot closer to the sources involved than most of us are. I appreciate BigDaddy, Goose and the rest for sharing.

You could have just ignored the board completely and instead watched the local news on Monday night around 9pm.....
Ya! How about some sensible info. Especially the blog "Martin Has Job". I want the official announcement.
Still like CRONIN

yes i would. because you don't that the person is actually "in the know." it's an anonymous posting. If someone wants to post where they heard it or why they would have that info, then i would love to read it. I'm saying if you aren't going to give yourself credibility, why does everyone believe it?
Instead of reading insider information here I will wait until the new coach is announced on the local news so I can be assured of its accuracy

K. Start some interesting topics that don't have to do with our coaching search until there is an official announcement. See who follows. This is only the biggest hire in the history of Marquette University given the conference situation, our coach leaving for an awful program, etc. But yeah, let's not talk about the hire at all here folks.
Let's be careful what we wish for.. I appreciate many of the guys who have posted on here with "what they know".... word on the street from many places was that SS had all but accepted the deal and changed his mind.... I hope anyone that may know something will come on here and let all of us diehards know what they're hearing... if they're wrong who cares?? We're still in the same position we would've been and it just gives us some insight into what may be coming. I'd much rather have an idea of what's going on or else I wouldn't be here.. but if anybody has a problem with it, you're more than welcome to stay off this board till the coach is hired.... just a thought.

Right now the immediate fate of marquette basketball depends on who fills the void of Brent... Why not predict, there isn't much else to converse about until then...

Wrong. There ARE those who everyone knows are in the know. And I appreciate what they share. Hell, it's from people in the know that we knew Brett was going to VA Tech way before it happened

Hahah we'll put!
once again, a message board misses the meaning. i have no problem with people speculating, guessing, hoping, or whatever. what i have a problem with is people claiming they have inside info and we all believe it.
what is goose/keefe/whoever else's connection to the program??? i know people that work in the office, but don't know anything about the hiring. so i'm wondering where they get their great info and why people treat them as gospel readers.

If the board missed the meaning it most lilkely is due to the title of the thread. Maybe it should be "Anyone tired of people believing the insiders"
So your problem is not with the speculators but with the people who choose to believe it? Seems like you are just upset we are now onto Martin and tier 2 or 3 candidates more than anything. I think we all are a bit let down but not by the few who were nice enough to pass along some info. I appreciated the info whether correct or incorrect.
To answer original posters question: No.
Hell of a lot better to have some info, speculation, etc., than nothing at all. The Shaka deal went sideways at last minute. Far too many reputable insiders who thought that was happening. Things change. Sure the SMU fanbase last year thought they had Buzz...people change their minds.
Have no idea how someone with NO info would hate on people that pass along the things they hear as or from well connected sources..

For all of the misinformation and backtracking, of course.

... I have to hand it to you - I haven't heard the term "slobbering the knob" since my time at MU.
Ahhh... Glory Days

I think after this week we can confirm one thing. There are no insiders.
