I suspect a mass revolt, but maybe I am wrong.
No, you'd be right.
I'd take him over Wardle and it's not even close. Wardle, to me, would be a total disaster. And he was one of my favorite players.
We would be able to recruit St. Anthony's players again! Or did that bridge become re-built when Buzz left? Not quite an impact hire, though it would be noted and he oozes potential more than most.
Not my first choice but I like his upside more than Weber or Wardle. However I don't see any advantage to him over Manning, who I think should be much higher on our list.
Six years ago I don't think anyone would have especially minded, but now, even though he may wind up a very good coach, I don't know if MU can go this route. And if he was that good, wouldn't he bolt back to Duke at first opportunity?

I think the line to be the next Duke coach is pretty long and Hurley wouldn't be at the front of the line. In the last week I've heard Collins, Dawkins, and Amaker all touted for that job.

True enough, but considering his lineage wouldn't MU be a steppingstone job for him?

Possibly, but other than Howland, who might just ride off into the sunset, or Wardle, who doesn't seem ready, anyone else will leave within 10 years.
I still want Manning, even though I've never heard his name mentioned.
I like Hurley a lot. Don't think he's ready yet though, plus I think he will always be one foot out the door.

Yes, but I think with someone like Hurley that might be three years, not 10, provided MU returns to the Dance a couple of times. I think right now Bobby needs at least a few more seasons at Buffalo.

I'd love to have him. I don't know that Danny Hurley would be a terrible choice, either.
I have crazy respect for Bob Hurley. What he has done at St. Anthony deserves everyone's respect.
Maybe he knew something about Buzz we didn't see on the surface?

If you're going for a Hurley, Danny is the one with coaching chops. Rhodey in middle of big transistion so mediocre this past season but he knows what he's doing.
As for the big ass Hurley, being the biggest bully on the block allows for a lot of leeway. Also helps when you run competition out of town. And really helps when you have the same two officials for every single home game of your career. Nothing fishy about that.
"Another" stepping stone hire!

Well, Bob Hurley is certainly a no-nonsense kind of guy. I don't think Buzz' country bumpkin "schtick" went over with him too well.
Wardle isn't too bad. It is still not his time yet.
But Hurley will be gone when there is a big job open.
Projectile vomiting.
I don't hate it. But this is Wardle level, and you might as well just go with Wardle then.
