Title: If you can put aside Bucky hate for a minute...
Post by: NersEllenson on March 28, 2014, 07:30:50 PM
While I'm not a fan at all of UW, and find some in their fanbase insufferable - I will say this Wisconsin team is a lot more fun to watch than other editions, and is quite talented.  Also, didn't realize the heartwarming story behind Bo Ryan and his father....really is a good read..and might even make you not mind if UW makes Final Four...say what we want but Bo Ryan is an incredible coach.

this is by far the smartest team left in the tournament, and they have as a good a chance as anyone to win it.

They deserve the right to crap all over us this year.  Not the slews of pretend alumni, but the coach and players and legitimate non-annoying alumni.

I think most of the Bucky haters here are the flatlander Illinesians.

Personally, I hope for UW to go 30-2 every year - losing only to MU during the regular season and then again in the NCAAs

They are very good. That said, I think the lose to Arizona. If by chance they do win that one, and there is certainly a chance, and they have to play Louisville, I think they will get run off the court. Love me some Montrezl Harrell.

I grew up in Appleton and have spent most of my life in the state of WI and have total hatred for the Badgers in all sports.

It may be jealousy about football, it may be little brother syndrome, but whatever it is I know that all my friends from Wisconsin that attended MU hate the Badgers.

Agree fully.  Badgers are an outstanding team this year and also fun to watch.  Bo has always seemed like a pretty good guy.  He's just so animated on the sideline that some people rip him apart.  I find the rivalry to be more between fans than the teams.

One of the redeeming benefits of hiring Martin, if we do, is the reaction by Vadger fans.  The subtle little racial dog whistles they put out there about our team in the last 10 years would just go one step further.  Imagine if Martin had a tatoo, they would really lose their minds.

Well, since we were in the Elite 8 last year and it has been a really long time since you guys last tasted it, I guess is makes sense you would come here to see what it is like.....it being an odd feeling for you guys, a strange sensation and all.

If we can help you with how to deal with the nervousness, etc, feel free to ask.

Wisconsin has played to seed at this point. They were expected in the Elite Eight. It's a wonderful moment and best of luck tonight. Defeating a higher seed in Arizona to reach the Final Four will be the crowning achievement of Bo Ryan's tenure.

How about people who are lifetime Wisconsin residents who went to other schools and don't like being surrounded by insufferable Badger fans, several of whom will confront you with a "________ Sucks" if you dare wear parephenalia supporting your alma mater.

I hope Wisconsin loses every time they play and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

What was Sean Miller doing? Game in his hands twice. End of regulation, needed the timeout. Collins(?) shot with 16 second left and then Johnson takes a bad shot. End of OT, Johnson just not smart.

So UW in the final four and MU might hire Cuonzo freaking Martin as their coach.

WORST. SEASON. EVER.

He said he played like a lottery pick...didn't say he'd be one....and if you can put the bias aside...Kaminsky is a big time player...most talented of Wisconsin's bigs they've had.  He has Dirk Nowitizki qualities.  Rarely will you find a legit 7 footer that can handle ball like that, the footwork, post game, and shoot 3's.

Would not be surprised to see Kaminsky be a lottery pick after his senior season.  Aaron Gordon is thought to be all world defender...and he had no answers, nor their other big...Kaminsky caused them all kinds of problems.  Hell of a player.

I think most of the Bucky haters here are the flatlander Illinesians.

Personally, I hope for UW to go 30-2 every year - losing only to MU during the regular season and then again in the NCAAs

I would tend to agree that a huge portion of them are Illinoisans, in which case I can't blame them.  On the other hand, the native Wisconsinites who choose to hate a large portion of their neighbors because they are Badger fans are an unfortunate bunch, and to me an in-state rivalry shouldn't get this personal between fans.  I understand it between players and teams because they are the ones who need the attitude to want to beat their opponents.

Why not?  Where are the holes in his game that you see?  Was Dirk Nowitizki a lottery pick at 19 years old out of Germany?  Do you not see lots of similarities in their games?  I watched and went to a lot of Mavericks games from Dirk's first year in the league and say him evolve into the superstar he became. Kaminsky has very similar tools...footwork is amazing...Barkley thinks he's a stud...will without question be the Most Outstanding Player in that region..

Yes, lottery is tough to crack...yet there is a lot of "clay" to work with, with a guy like Kaminsky...7' guys with his skill set are really hard to find..

PTM = Ignore User. . . I dont waste major time on minor people.

Wisconsin can beat the Bucks if they played. Kaminski can shoot the 3 post up and rebound. Rare combination. They played with heart tonite.

Ners you can read. I said played like a lottery pick. I never said he was one. Ronald Mcdonald can score 28 points in a regional final against a #1 see and im gonna say he looked great and give him his respect.

Uhm...no.   The Bucks would destroy the Badgers.  Let's not get silly.  An NBA team is made up of every college team's best player(s).  It would not be close.

+1

If the Bucks and Badgers played 100 times.  The Badgers would lose by double digits in all 100 of those games.

Wow the refs called an offensive foul. . . You rarely see them make that call.

Jim Jacksons son is a stud also...... Solid lefty point guard.... Jump shot needs mechanics work but hes a leader.

I don't know, he played like a ball hog late in regulation and OT, he's one of those 'live with him, die with him' type of players.  He made a couple big plays, but when you're taking more than half the shots down the stretch that will happen.  He practically ignored Kaminsky but Kaminsky still managed to get his thanks to putbacks of Trevon misses.

What yall think about Jim Jacksons son. The Point guard solid handles, decent jump shot and team leader. They lose without him also.

Wisconsin could not beat the Bucks, you're a Fucking idiot.

Who is Frank going to guard in the NBA? How will he create a shot? How will he possibly get anything other than garbage boards?

The NBA is a different animal, more so for big men.

I was rooting for Frank, love goofy looking white guys, but he's no lottery pick.

I assume you are being sarcastic, but maybe you aren't.  It's a silly thought, just like when people come out and say Alabama could beat Jacksonville in the NFL.  It is preposterous.

The height, the quickness, the range....it just wouldn't happen.

A rivalry only exists if the two teams can beat each other on a fairly regular basis.  If the two programs continue down the paths they are on, it wont be much of a rivalry.

I would argue that it's good in the short-run, but bad in the long-run.

A good/ranked Wisconsin team boosts our RPI.  But if they continue to absolutely dominate college bball, then they may start owning midwest recruits

The last team on the planet I want boosting our RPI is the Badgers.  If it costs us 10 RPI points at the end of the year because we beat a crappy UW team, I would take it every season and be happy to lose a seed line.

Exactly right.    Alabama is filled with about 10 NFL players; Jacksonville is ALL NFL PLAYERS
