Take a gander at the article. Hutson has been pretty instrumental in bringing talent to SDSU. He's also a very good X's and O's coach from what I've been reading. After he left UNLV their defense took a step back. That says a lot. He's the brains behind SDSU's defensive scheme, which is pretty impressive. They gave Arizona a run for their money and stomped MU earlier in the season. He's a major part of why that program has achieved success of late.
The guy has brought in some impressive talent and has had recruiting classes nationally ranked @ UNLV and at SDSU.
I wouldn't mind MU taking a shot at this guy.
Why not put this in the thread you already started titled : marquettes next target?
Where do you guys get this stuff? I guess anything is possible, but he's not even the top assistant here at State.....Dutcher is. And Fisher has been teaching solid defense for a LONG time well before Huston came to town.

Hutson is the person who bring in the recruits and knows X's and O's. Dutchin can't recruit a lick. He's a lifetime assistant.

You do realize Dutch will be the coach when Fisher hangs it up, right?

Yes, and that's when the program will take a dive. Hutson is looking for his own gig. Explain why he went to UNLV then!!!
It might sound shortsighted, but no assistant coaches. MU can make a statement that it is not a steppingstone by hiring a current high-level DI head coach or Howland.
In all seriousness, have any of the top 15 or 20 programs in the nation hired an assistant to be their new HC over the last decade or so (who wasn't groomed from within to be the head coach of that program).

Not Top 15, but Archie Miller at Dayton and Johnny Dawkins at Stanford.

First, I guess I'm not the fortune teller you are. Apparently, the Aztec program will be tanking soon. Second, I didn't say Huston wont be a good coach
some day. I just don't think he's a viable choice for MU at this point. I would assume (or at least hope) we are aiming a little bit higher.

Agree 100%. The days of Marquette being a proving ground for assistant coaches is over. Besides I believe Cords has said we're looking head coaches with a successful track record...which Ben Howland has proven to be.
We don't need another assistant learning on the job.

This, and who in their right mind would move from San Diego to Milwaukee?
We've come a long way from thinking we landed Shaka to thinking that a lower tier assistant from the Mountain West conference would turn us down. Maybe we should just lock up Wainwright before he bolts.

Hmm. Not sure how you gathered that from this thread. It seems to be saying the exact opposite.

I should have replied to the comment that he wouldn't leave San Diego for Milwaukee, which I realize is a joke. I think.

SDSU's offense made ours look like a well oiled machine.

Arizona is the best defensive team in the country and they put up 64 on them..... MU would have issues surpassing the 40 mark this year, against Arizona.
