Title: Why is Hopkins being mentioned?
Post by: 🏀 on March 27, 2014, 06:23:02 PM
Does anyone think he's a good candidate?

I'd rather have Archie or Wardle. Seems like an awful idea.

His name popped up an early articles and it seems like other people are just continuing to pass it along.

I'd rather have a $hit sundae than Wardle.

Hopkins is one of the best recruiters in the NCAA.  He's ranked #2.  Take a look at how much talent he recruited that has gone to the NBA.  Archie isn't available.  And..... why in the world would you want Wardle over Hopkins?  That is just an extremely poor analysis.  That would be akin to Isiah Thomas' tenure with the Knicks.

Because we're a stepping stone job.

Yes, let's hire a zone guy who will leave in as soon as his bitchy mentor leaves Syracuse.

Your analysis is poor.

I guess you're afraid of top tier talent like Tyler Ennis and prefer Derrick Wilson types running the point.  There's no guarantee he'd go back to Syracuse and you have no idea when Boeheim is going to retire anyways.  I'd bring him here if he only lasts 5 years.  The guy can flat out recruit.  Syracuse seems to have had a lot of success running a zone, so to downgrade it is quite ignorant.

I've got a quarter in my pocket here that will get you a nice haircut and a better analysis...... hurry!!!  Going soon!

Wardle is NOT ready, imho.
If you want a player who can make inroads to Chicago and the upper midwest, maybe.
But we need a national platform...and the guy has to be a national guy.

So we hire Hopkins. Boeheim turns 70 in November. Do you really want to go through crap again in two years?

You're obviously frustrated about MU's search and it's made you delusional.  Hopkins is a Syracuse lifer.  It is the only school that he has attended, played for, or coached for.  All he needs to fill out his credentials to succeed Boehiem is to spend a few years running a program as a head man somewhere.  Boeheim is 69 years old.  The job takes stamina.  He won't still be there at 75.

Hope you're ready for all those police reports in the Journal if Hopkins gets here.

Dirtiest, ugliest program in the NCAA. Quit while you're ahead.

I will take Hopkins (someone who can get talent) over a non accomplished/over hyped Brian Wardle any day.  Wardle hasn't accomplished anything and if he hadn't gone to MU he wouldn't even be in the discussion.

Police Reports?  We were used to that with Buzz anyways.
