Haven't see much discussion about this, but how much do you think the new big east is effecting Marquette's coaching search? Is it possible Marquette is having hard time sealing the deal with their top choices due to the future unknown of the conference? I have hard time believing someone would turn down the amount of money Marquette can offer if Marquette were still in the old Big East. Buzz took a pay cut and left for a terrible program, there has to be a reasons for that, there would have been much better openings down the line. Just feel like the Big East may ruin what was once a great basketball program in Marquette, should they consider leaving when they can?(any chance B1G or Big 12 be interested?)I understand the TV deal, but what good is it, if FOX may not renew it due to the conference falling reputation? The conference did it self no good with their performance in the tourney this year. How good is Creighton going to be once mcbuckets leaves? Is butler ever going to be good now that stevens left? I am just not a fan of what happened with the Big East, and I haven't been this upset since the Big East turned down Penn state back in 82 I believe.
This whole situation just stinks, hated it from the start but wanted to give it a chance, but things just keep looking as bad as I imagined, big east is turning into a mid major. I can't see how anyone can put it on the same level as the Pac 12, Big 10, Big 12, or ACC.
You know what? I have never heard this line of thinking before. Thanks for the enlightening information. You should post here more often.
Minus Villanova and probally St. Johns(even though they didnt make the tourny), every team in the big east had a "mid major" look this year.

Really? The only thing mid-major about Creighton and Xavier is that they were in MM previously.
The BE is not a MM, and it is not even close. Did it have a great first year? No. But in most years, 50% of the conference will go to the dance. That is no MM.
I'm not really sure what we can do. Again, football gave us lemons, we made lemonade.
Although I will say that any conference with Georgetown, Villanova, and Marquette will never be mid-major. The resources we throw at basketball absolutely destroys any other school in any non-football conference. We may have collectively had a bad year, but over the long-run we will have more success.
The Big East has the 2nd highest number of top 100 recruits next year. Our situation really isn't as bad as you make it out to be.

That doesn't fit OP's narrative. Stop using facts.

I don't think it's
effecting it at all. It may be
affecting it, but that remains to be seen. But mid-major? Pah.

Not trying to offend you but put your love for marquette aside for a sec and be real with yourself. Did you see creighton vs baylor?? The LOOK not the PLAY..ponder on that.
Xavier has one good player(christon). They second best was that big center(I forgot his name) but he wasnt that good.
Relative to prior BE, could be having an effect. Wish we woulda thought to warn Syracuse, etc. about this before they decided to bolt. Darn.

So now we are gonna decide the level a confernce is at based on one post season? This is beyond ridiculous.

The fact that you don't know Xavier's 2nd best players name proves to me you don't know jack sh!t about CBB.
Did Creighton play their worst game of the year on the biggest stage they had all year? Absolutely they did. They laid an egg. Baylor was a horrid matchup for them, but that game doesn't make the BE a MM.

Agreed whole heartedly. The FIRST year in the conference was a consensus down year YET we put 40% of the league in the Dance, and had two teams crack the top 10 in both polls for multiple weeks this year. Oh yeah, and the conference accomplished all of that with G-town and MU having down years. That's friggin' incredible actually.

I did try to give him the benefit of the doubt with the earlier threads, but the ignorance on that side is getting...annoying.

Yall win
The demise of the Big East is greatly exaggerated.. just look at KenPom conference stats for the year. I agree with Eldon - we made the best of a bad situation. I still feel very good about our conference situation (better than Buzz did, I guess...).
