History has a tendency to repeat itself. Maybe an announcement of the women's hoops banquet?

We give him this participation trophy for all the work he has done.
Not counting on a coach being named, but hope I am wrong.
No chance a coach is named.
This is just starting to get obnoxious now with all the endless "updates" leading nowwhere

Do not disagree but if they handle it well it could bring some clarity.

Endless updates? You mean one...that won't even occurs for another two hours?
I have biz meeting at client this afternoon and will be out of pocket. I hope when I get out I will be a happy fan. Will say, my being tied up is good omen for me. Whenever I miss something I want to be part of it usually is good event.

This is the dumbest buzzword/phrase to come around in some time. So, you're going to be paying for the meeting using your own money? Or you're going to be unavailable?
Something to the effect that they are evaluating and talking to a number of strong candidates. Also that they understand that there are a lot of rumors and reports out there, and that in the age of social media everyone wants instant gratification. But, they want to make sure they identify the candidate that is the best fit for MU, and the process takes a little more time than some fans would like. They also know that getting a coach in place is important for the current players and recruits so they can begin preparing for next season. But, getting the best and right coach is more important than getting the position filled today.
They will specifically decline to comment on whether they have been in contact with any specific individual.
In other words, nothing will come out that will satisfy the most rabid fans.

Then what will be discussed at this presser? Can't release names you've spoken with. Can't release names you may speak with in the future. Can't talk timelines.
Still have no idea what the purpose of this media event is.
I feel like it could just be a statement about what they've been doing since Buzz left. That the process started immediately and that they are now officially involving Lovell. And that they will not discuss the candidates but that it is a very successful group of coaches. Thanks and we will give you updates as things evolve.

True. Hopefully they at least shed some light on the situation because things are dragging.
If we're lucky, it will be cancelled.

I'd put the phone on silent, Kemosabe.

Not a new phrase at all...been around for years. And it means he won't be available.

It's only just started showing up in managers' emails in the last year or so that I've seen. And it may have once meant that, but now it means covering costs with your own money, i.e. insurance costs.
Regardless, why can't people just say, "I'm going to be unavailable"? When did using actual English to mean exactly what it says become so uncool and so unhelpful that we had to resort to using stupid phrases that mean nothing to say what we could already say?

Context is everything:
The expense will be out of pocket = you cover the costs.
I will be out of pocket = I will be unavailable.

I'm just thinking out of the box on these metrics trying to break through the clutter. Can I get some alignment on this? We're never going to see organic growth if this stays on the runway. The sustainability of this paradigm is not in its verticality. I need to leverage my streamline when I'm out of pocket in order to remain proactive moving forward.

Why are they having a formal press conference for this purpose? Couldn't they type up just what you put above in a press release? No way they can answer any questions, so why even make people show up in person?

It just doesn't make sense. "out of pocket" is 13 characters while "unavailable" is only 11. I understand shortening things, but why use a LONGER and more cryptic phrase over just typing the word that you mean?
Edit: I do suppose that the cryptic phrase that is more commonly used for a completely different purpose saves a syllable when spoken, so there is some benefit.

Out of pocket when referencing communication always means in my field "I will only have a smartphone on me so I wont be able to edit contracts and docs, but can talk on phone and email."
It's one of those phrases that irks me too. I only use it to refer to a business that is terribly behind the times and won't accept corporate AMEX so I have to pay with my own money.
Just a note. The only people using the terminology "presser" are scoopers. This is smaller than people think.
In my world out of pocket meant my Dad was enjoying time with buddies and had no interest in being disturbed. Morphed into everyday talk in my house may, many years ago.

Could you enlighten me and Navin to what any of the "updates" were? I actually was born yesterday.

I can't answer that one. If I were in charge I wouldn't have announced this in the first place.
