Wake Forest athletic teams were originally known as the "Baptists" or "The Old Gold and Black." However, in 1922 the editor of the school newspaper, Mayor Parker '24, created the alliteration "Demon Deacons" to describe a major defeat over Trinity (now Duke). When Wake Forest College's publicity director, Henry Belk, began incorporating the nickname into his press releases, newspapers from around the country started to proclaim the success of the Demon Deacons. There are some things at Wake Forest that are absolutely unique. The familiar spirited figure in top hat and tails on the sidelines at every game is one - The Wake Forest Demon Deacon.

Wake Forest not religious? Read their "purposes and objectives":
As an institution founded by the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Wake Forest University seeks to shape its goals, policies, and practices by Christian ideals. It seeks to help its students become mature, well-informed and responsible persons. It seeks to introduce its students to the cultural heritage of our times, through a broad study of the humanities, the natural and social sciences and mathematics, and through a concentration in at least one academic discipline. It seeks to develop in its students the ability to think honestly and clearly, to use the English language correctly, and to use at least one foreign language effectively. It seeks to assist its students in building a system of values which takes full account of the things of the spirit as well as things material that they may become constructive and useful members of society. Finally, it seeks to aid its students in achieving for themselves a vital and relevant faith. These purposes underlie the total academic program of the University.

It's Baptist. My two oldest looked at it. Beautiful campus, awesome school.
My buddy from the Midwest went there for his first semester of college. Not a fan. Gated community with absolutely nothing within a few miles outside the gates. Lots of "dorm" or "house" parties--granted he was a freshman while down there. However, no doubt as to how nice the campus is.
Nice little anecdote about his time down there: On his way to and from class, he would often see Eric Williams holding a legitimate, oversized boom box on one shoulder, blasting music while en route to class.

Watch... Keefe is going to say he did that on purpose.
Well, I'd say the odds of it happening by accident are pretty damn slim.
approached now fives times
indecisive as a ram
familiar coda
how can one not hear
all that grunting just a fart
disappointment reigns
it was a good hunt
as on the serengeti
prospects seem more dim
as there is less time
to sort out the spaghetti
the plate a real mess
ask if it were you
how would you pass the ketchup
I went to golf camp my Sr. year in high school at WF and loved the place. Unfortunately no FFP program at WF and my golf game was not up to speed otherwise might have gone there.

Another amazing coincidence.

No Pilarz to teach me how.
Looks like I am f**ked.

That is a damn fine golf program. Lots of Tour pros matriculated at WF.
NC has some great courses. When we would go to FT Bragg for TDY's you could always tell we were AF pilots as we had our golf bags and then just a small overnight helmet bag for a week's stay.

Boo. I wanted me some shakas
But for your insight, we thank you
Not every hiring can be chic
Sometimes you have to take the slam dunk
Rather than try for four point plays

Just did a small training tour, as an Army JFO with a group of JTACs.
I'm definitely switching over to the AF #donedeal.

This is who I see the signs pointing to. Going back to yesterday, very quiet but they're there. I'm guessing UVA plays Thurs which is why Goose said "even if we have to wait til Friday"?

Two notches below = Gregg Marshall
Was my hope = Shaka
Walk on = Marquette unexpected to get him
Got it.

My buddy from the Midwest went there for his first semester of college. Not a fan. Gated community with absolutely nothing within a few miles outside the gates.
I had an apartment less than a mile from the Wake campus. Never saw any gates when I lived there.
At least it isn't a dry county like its neighbor, Yadkin county. W-S IS nothing but house parties since there is nowhere else to drink - they don't have bars other than a few clubs that require a membership or the hotel bars.

You have chosen wisely, young man. JTAC is where it's at and the mission is tits. I was the III Corps CAS Chief for Fire & Effects during The Surge. Once the ROE changed and the gloves came off we rocked the Kasbah and sent more tangos to Allah in 6 months than MNC-I had in the previous 4 years.
JTAC is a stupendous mission that challenges mind, body, and spirit in ways you cannot imagine. You have to complete the TACP syllabus at Hurlburt then the Ranger syllabus which is two more months of hell. But by the end of that pipeline you will piss vinegar and slay dragons. PM me if you want insight on the mission.

One of the most influential music producers of all time. A near mythic figure in music. Also co-founded Def Jam records. Hence why he dresses however the hell he pleases.

Indeed. He was also executive producer of the Jerry Springer show, to boot.

Rage, Slipknot, Black Crowes and lots more.
While he used to be a powerhouse in the music industry, since the early 2000s, his production (at least for rock/metal) has gotten very stale/dull/lifeless. Listen to any song from Slipknot's Iowa and then any song from Vol. 3 and you can hear how flat he made them sound. He's past his prime.
