99% of the country is not paying attention to this.
95% of basketball fans are not paying attention, the are licking their wounds from their brackets getting blown apart this past weekend.
All the speculation and hype is here.
Howland has expressed interest. We have talked with Shaka, even Goodman admits. So, yes we are trying to get Shaka. Other reports have Marshall as interested.
The Shaka to MU fever is almost entirely due to Dodds and IWB. We think they are credible because they are close to the program. So does Mark "sharpie it in" Miller and the local media ran as they ran with these sources in their stories last night. No one outside MU has hinted this is happening.
Maybe it happens, maybe it does not. Fact is we really know nothing and Dodds and IWB's credibility is on the line.
48 hours after we announce a new coach, this will be forgotten by everyone on the planet except for those with scoop accounts and half-a-dozen VCU posters.
Flashing forward... On next week's edition of The Newsroom...
::)
I don't think it's happening with Shaka.
Hope I am wrong.....

Nothing new there though...
"48 hours after we announce a new coach, this will be forgotten by everyone on the planet except for those with scoop accounts and half-a-dozen VCU posters."
If we don't get Smart or Howland....then a huge emphatic "no, this will not be forgotten by everyone on the planet."

...bleacher report
And, I have even less respect for Milwaukee TV sports journalists than I did previously -- and that's saying a lot !
Could we possibly add in there that we now know the details regarding the sports banquet???
;D

I wonder what percentage of MU alums are playing attention?
How did Buzz going to V-Tech become the opposite of what is happening here?
Crickets (mostly) then Buzz off to the farm.
Speculation run rampant (mostly here and local media) for our new coach
Never trusting twitter "sources" on this stuff again. Especially those who say they are their own source.
large %
Odd that bleacher report would have a story shooting down rumors of Smart coming to MU and then right next to the article have a poll asking if he will be successful at Marquette.

Marshall is my #1 choice, for what it's worth.

Nothing about that is surprising, considering it is BleacherReport

bleacher report had an article yesterday saying that shaka smart was in fact going to marquette. I doubt that they are trustworthy on this topic, regardless of the outcome...it is bleacher report after all.
Bleacher Report is merely re-tweeting anything they see.. They are reporting NOTHING that any of us couldn't have reported.
How many recruits has MU landed in the last decade after a highly visible recruiting battle? We seem to miss out on those, don't we? Yesterday was the modern of equivalent of aliens in New Jersey and Paul is dead. The process is on-going.
Goodman also said this am that although Marshall is intrigued by MU, MU is not interested in Marshall. If true, wow.

The only reason I think they would not be interested is they have a target in mind and are closing the deal with him.

It's hard to make rumors that anyone will take seriously about a highly sought after coach taking a step down and a pay cut to move on. And, apparently, Buzz was motivated to move quickly.

Actually, it seems guaranteed that Bleacher Report will be correct. Either Smart is coming to MU (as reported yesterday) or he is not (as reported today).
Sounds about as reliable as anything else at this point.

But... But Marshall's stats are AMAZING!
The only concerns are his ability to recruit and if he can succeed at a big program.*
*These are good concerns
Well, it was the first topic discussed on the SVP show on espn radio today. Although, he did say we were also targeting Miller and then discussed Shaka. Topic was more about how 1 weekend can change your job prospects.
