Title: Outsider Ignorance
Post by: Clam Crowder on March 24, 2014, 01:46:21 PM
It is unreal seeing people thinking Wake or BC or VT are better jobs than MU. I am a homer sure but seriously look at our buget for basketball, our attendance, our last 10 yrs and how the hell can someone not understand that we are the best job out there right now?

Last couple of days have made me angry at the NCAABB fan base. I want VTech to suck for the next 5 years and no matter if Shaka is here or not I want MU to just prove that the program deserves some friggin recognition not the tanned one or the bald one who just left us.

Who is saying that?  Students at those schools?

Not sure who is saying those programs are better, but Jeff Goodman tweeted yesterday that MU is the best of the bunch.

Don't base your self-worth on what dopes say.

If that isn't Rule 1 for a happy life, it's in the top 10.

Agree with you 100%.  Marquette is a premier basketball school and has a long, long history of winning basketball with great talent.  I am excited about the opportunity we have right now to move to the top with a new head coach. As happens many times in life, negatives often become positives.  Go Marquette!

It is funny reading the reactions on twitter.  "Why in the world would Shaka go to MU when he turned down UCLA and Illinois."  First of all Marquette is a better job than Illinois, IMO.  After what UCLA did to Howland, why would Shaka want that job, unrealistic expectations.  The Marquette job is one of the top 20 in the country IMO.  We clearly have to pay a "bad city tax" and a "lesser conference tax," but the program is willing to pay it.  That is the difference that makes MU a destination.  Buzz moving on could be the best thing that happened to the program since Al was hired.

For true delusion go to the VTech thread

That guy claimed he didn't know where Marquette was located.  Talkin trash and then he reads that MU is competing with the mighty ACC for Ben Howland and Shaka Smart and he quickly changes his tune.

Who are we?

We are Marquette.

As Izzo said, most basketball fans base their impression on what happened over the last three weeks.

Since we ended the year 0 - 4, we are a mid-major

Since Dayton beat tOSU and Cuse in the last 72 hours, they are a major basketball power.

Not hard to figure out.

I could potentially buy an argument that the Wake job is on par with MU, but BC and VT no.

People over at the VCU board dont think MU is a step up from VCU. I dont blame them, they are probably upset with the rumors bust still. Its like people forget about the 70s and the past decade...
