This makes no sense to me at all. Why is it reasonable that it would change upon departure from the AD? Why was it so small? How could we pay a coach so much money, one that we enriched and created, and not expect a bigger buyout? Doesn't seem like a tough negotiation.....Buzz we will pay you 2 million but you/your future employer needs to pay us 2 million if you leave.
We knew the guy was unstable. Even if Broeker is suggesting it was higher, it wasn't enough. Buzz is going around and telling Goodman it was 100k.
I just don't get it but the fact of the matter is MU blew it. We should be getting 2 million or more from them.
My instincts tell me this is MU's fault. I am starting to feel like the school/program is out of control or a bunch of pansies.
For the 1000th time, they wanted him to leave, he was "encouraged" to leave.
The better question is why as they don't think the blew it, they got what they wanted.

Ok I understand your logic. If that is the truth MU needs to save face and disclose it or needs to tip off Goodman because NOOONE is reporting this.
Buzz is making a fool of Marquette along with his VT lapel pin on national TV less than 24 hours from being the MU head coach and his public trashing of our conference. What a dick.

Pure speculation: Admin knew Buzz was unhappy. Buzz's my way or the highway was well known. Admin was not happy with all the Buzz unhappiness and BS. Mutual to make the buyout low. Buzz's BS and poor decisions result in this dismal season so the shove to Buzz is increased.
Sounds to me like somebody at MU knew the guy was a kumquat, unlike many on those board who thought he was the next down home lonesome cowboy Pope.

Because Buzz blew himself up at 5pm on Friday by taking VT
A couple of years from now this will be viewed as one of the stupidest coaching decisions ever. To go to that dead-end for less money is an appalling lack of judgement.
Buzz's PR offensive will be forgotten when Howland is sitting in the same chair on CBS' set gushing about how great MU is.

Your opinion. Others may not want to talk about it publically. He is gone, let him say what he wants-that kind of thing. Maybe there is something in his contract remaining that covers this.
BTW, wearing his VT pin does not signify to everybody that he is making MU a fool. To me it just means he is a bozo for wearing the pin and to tell him to stick the pin on his head which is firmly imbedded in his butt. The guy is Bozo the clown and he fooled many fans with his lame shtick. Now he is just perpetuating the good ol' boy act. Hopefully it will work in coal country.
The press MU is getting right now due to the lack of stability is outweighing any marketing money we are spending to attract students (many of whom are making decisions as we speak) not to mention a President, Provost, AD's and Admissions people. We are getting pummeled.
It's not hard to tip off Hunt, post on a message board, or send an email to Andy Katz.
This was a "save your face move" that MU thought was good for all concerned. In short, they told him to find another gig so we don't have to let you go. Weird how it mimics the Pilarz exit, aina?

Their is no doubt MU is transitioning. Go back and see the 12 page tread about MU adopting a vision for the future.

They are attempting to remake the University into an elite institution. Step 1, get rid of the deadwood. With the director of admission going to Regis, and
Pilarz going to GU prep, I'll let you decide if they were in the right positions for this transition.
So, the leaderless University is not accurate, it is changing by design. Apparently part of that design did not include Buzz.
Their is a bigger picture going here, possibly the biggest in MUs 125 years.
Question, do you want MU to be a top flight instruction, one that, frankly, many of us probably could not get into? If so, grin and bear this transition.
Or, were you happy with the stays quo?
I was not happy with the stays quo and I'm happy for this attempt. But I completely understand it means tough times and growing pains. One of them is Buzz.

calm down man - we are in the running for the highest-pedigree coach we could land this year. The university is going through a transition, but I know when I sent in my deposit I could have given a poop who the university president was.
My personal belief if this was something MU and Buzz knew was happening a few weeks ago, and it may be a situation where neither party wants all their dirty laundry aired, so they aren't poking the other side.
I still like Buzz - MU is better for having had him as a coach. He is better off for having coached at MU. It is clear to anyone who pays attention to college hoops that he was encouraged to leave.
