@mikebroeker: A lot of misinformation circulating about #mubb coaches and contracts. Let's be cautious and responsible, folks. Good night.
I certainly hope this refers to the buyout, if it was in the 2m range at least I could have a little more faith in the administration.
Easy solution to that, Mike. Inform us.

I'm happy he's reaching out to the MU nation.
Whatever he may be referring to is not that important to me now.
The fact they're issuing statements and still finding time to monitor the situation and pulse of the MU fandom should be appreciated.
Maybe some of the assistants are not following Buzz afterall.
Not sure what is ominous about that Tweet?
Agree. I'm fine with Buzz leaving I'm looking for confidence and a plan. I'm sure it's a very fluid and chaotic situation, hopefully things will become clearer in the coming days.

I have no idea on real numbers but I have read the former VPI Coach was paid $800k/year and that is equivalent to what Chew is paid as an asst at MU. If true, and Chew follows to VPI, the fixed salaries for Men's Basketball went up 4-fold for just BW and Chew. Hard to imagine they are thrilled with increasing their run rate by that much. If nothing else, the expectations on BW should be significant.
The tweet said coaches and contracts, in the plural sense. So, only explanation would be the assistants.
I presume they have no buyouts and they are under contract to the university and not to Buzz. No clue as to what is up with this. Interesting he put that out.

agreed. i think buzz was worried at MU (i hate dakich, but i think he's right on this)...part of that was the amount of money being spent at MU. i would think the additional $$$ being spent on basketball (or anything other than football) will come with expectations.

I'm sick of this preaching by the administration about refraining from misinformation when there has been so much information withheld from the Marquette community by the administration over the last five years.
Fu€k off
If you have rumors, hearsay, inklings, hunches, let em fly folks, that's why we are here. If we don't get told what is actually happening, you can't stop us from trying to find out.

Whoa, never seen the euro symbol used so creatively!
When you get into coaching contracts at private institutions, pretty good chance it's not something that can be disclosed. Not that he can't drop the term "assistant" or "buyout" to give another hint of clarity.

Who has Broeker's email address? I think we have to go all out. I think this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture on somebody's part, and the men of Scoop are just the guys to do it!
This tweet is probably strategic. In an attempt to get more bargaining power, MU tweets this. Stating publicly that publicly disseminated contract figures are wrong is a little bit more believable than MU telling whoever it is that MU is bargaining with privately that the publicly disseminated contract figures are wrong.

I agree with this! The university is in total disarray. They expect the alums and fan base to take all this nonsense without the courtesy of an explanation. It's supposed to be "Fathe Knows Best."
Why did our coach leave for less money at a dead end job? Is it too much to ask for something of an explanation and a plan? The insular people at this university are infuriating and it happens time after time after time. If there was malfeasance, tell us! Otherwise all we can do is guess!!

Regarding tweet sounds like CYA all the speculation and reporting on Buzz was set to make anywhere from 2.5-4m and Chew making 800K and buyouts. The point is correct no one knows for certain. However seems odd that in all of this the only thing we hear is there is misinformation about contracts????
How about we got this, we are working on it. We will keep you informed.

Do you think this, in any way, is related to VT reporters and Mike Hunt's guesses on the contract and perks of Buzz's deal at MU?

Not really sure, but I was thinking more along the lines of we don't want our next coach to know what we were paying Buzz and all the details of his contract.
Again - the numbers in this post are so far off base it's beyond silly. Shhh

Broeker:
Please call Hunt or someone else in the media and have them write an "according to sources within the MU administration" piece. Please set the record straight from your end and these stories will stop.
