Great family coaching tree....
Not for me, add him to the not renewing season tickets list of coaches.

You must have really liked Crean and Buzz then.
Honestly, very much an option.

I liked Crean, was lukewarm on Buzz.
Archie has done nothing at Dayton to warrant consideration other than beat OSU. Even if he beats Syracuse, he's not the next coach.

What had Crean or Buzz done, just out of curiosity.
I Desperately wanted Sean Miller after Tan Tommy left. He kept the tradition going at Pitt. Archie seems
like a young Rick Pitino. Knowledge about BB

I think the Sweet 16 will help his resume a bit. Probably still not good enough for PTM, but nationally, it will help his reputation.
Brother Sean turned down Marquette. Don't think Archie would be any different, if we offered.

They weren't head coaches?
Archie now has two wins. Don't get caught up in hot NCAA tournament wins.

Archie Miller wouldn't be considered a major hire, would he?

Not a Howland, Marshall, or Smart that turns all heads, but nobody nationally would say it was anything but a solid hire. Miller has a damn fine pedigree for a 35 year old. He would win here, but he would also bolt for a blue blood or NCSU the next time that opens up.

He's hungry. If he's good enough for a blue blood, then we'll have won. Just maybe one of our successful coaches will grow an affinity for MU like McGuire.
Ben Howland wants the job and we'd hire Archie Miller?
Wow. Just wow.
Dayton beat OSU and Cuse, both teams who struggled big time at the end of the year. Give Dayton credit with the wins, and the timing is good for Miller, but OSU and Cuse not the teams they were earlier in the year.
Buzz' team couldn't hang with either one of them. BTW, really like Ennis as a 1.
His wife would instantly become the hottest Mrs. MU basketball ever.

Some coaches are Sweet 16 wonders. Archie Miller will not be one of those.

First off, congrats on using the same language as every 13 year old girl in America.
Second, Ben Howland is a fine hire - if he truly wants the job. One tweet from Andy Katz, doesn't make it a fact.
Miller is 10 years younger than his brother, Sean. When Sean was 35, he hadn't just finished his first year at Xavier, going 17-12.
Not sure where the Dayton hate comes from, but the guy has done a great job at a school that most of you said was in no way worthy of being a member of the new Big East.
Goodman's tweets on Miller lead me to believe MU has genuine interest in Miller. Like him or not, and probably only because of our former coach, but Goodman seems to have insight on MU moreso than others.

Yes, most 13 year old American girls speak English.
And where'd the comment about Dayton hate come from? I have been supportive of Dayton to the BE all along. Go back and look. But when you have two possible options, go for the best one available.
There was a huge faction of people last year against Dayton joining the Big East. I was and still am for it.
I would take Howland over Miller, but Miller could be a solid hire. Would take Miller over Wardle at this point.

Totally agree on Miller over Wardle.
But I'd still inquire about Howland, Smart and Marshall before looking to Miller. I don't think Miller is a bad option, but there are several proven candidates that have been mentioned as possibly having interest. Check them out first. Miller will still be there if the others aren't interested.
True. Plenty of "Miller-type" coaches out there. Go for broke first.
It's kinda funny how many of us didn't want Dayton in the BE and now they're Sweet 16ing it...

Very happy for them. Great to see anyone knock off cuse, even better when its a small (by comparison) catholic school. Definitely pulling for them.

Still don't, look at them acting like a mid major. They're flooding the streets and carrying the president through the streets.
Dayton is the essence of mid-major and they like it.

I think Miller is very much in play. Great coaching pedigree. Very well thought of in coaching circles.
Smart is my dream choice. But I wouldn't be disappointed with the Miller hire. Could end up being a home run.

The Bullseye guys are very good (if occasionally overly sanctimonious) at covering Illinois HS hoops. Not sure how plugged they are into NCAA coaching info, especially outside Chicago.
