Sorry if this was posted already. I would hate to add to the clutter on the home page, but it seemed good and I don't remember ever hearing about this.
Was this a sign that "we will no longer have you?"
EDIT: I slept on this last night and I the more I think about it, the more this was a case of MU showing Buzz the door.
Did anybody know about Buzz's buyout clause changing? I read Scoop pretty regularly and don't recall coming across it.
bump
It was mentioned in in one of the many earlier threads.
This was not a factor in BW leaving Marquette

Ok thanks
Or maybe the buyout hadn't changed?

Originally, the thought was Buzz Williams was untouchable. He makes a huge chunk of change (between $2.5-$2.8 million last year), his program has one of the biggest basketball budgets in the country, he has the Golden Eagles rolling and his buyout is too big for suitors to take him seriously.
However, the buyout for Williams is apparently fiction, put out there by Marquette people as a protective shield. The dollar amount of the buyout, rumored to be in between $1-$1.5 million, is actually one of the smaller ones among high-major coaches -- $100,000, according to a close source.
Note that this is from 2 years ago.
The buyout changed when the AD changed, per a clause in Buzz's contract. It went from $2m to 100k.
If this story is two years old, then it means the AD change was Cottingham and not LW.
Remember, Buzz took a step down for less money, who does that? Answer someone that was told or given strong hints to leave, and do so in a hurry.

Annoying. You keep saying there is contract misinformation everywhere, yet I have not seen you offer up a single fact yourself. What do you got for us?
