interesting read.  I would say this:  Buzz as a person seems great between the faith, family, Buzz's bunch, etc.  As a professional, perhaps much to work on.

This thread is not being apprecaited (as it has a bad title).

Try this - Marc Marotta Gives It To Buzz:  "One of the most idiotic moves I've ever seen"

Marc Marotta, a former Marquette basketball star, prominent supporter of the basketball program and chairman of the BMO Harris Bradley Center board of directors, said Friday that Buzz Williams' decision to leave for Virginia Tech was a mistake.

"For him to leave Marquette is one of the most idiotic moves I've ever seen anyone make," Marotta said. "I like Buzz but this is a move that is inexplicable."

Williams reportedly told his players late Friday afternoon of his decision. By then, his Twitter page had already been changed to list him as the Virginia Tech head coach, and feature a picture of the Hokies home basketball court. He also had changed the colors of his "Team Williams" logo above his name to match the Tech school colors.

Marotta said Williams had autonomy in a respected basketball program, was one of the highest paid coaches in the country and was admired by many members of the Marquette basketball community.

"There is not one good reason for him to leave to go to that program. That job is a dead end. It's a bad move," Marotta said.

"To me it's obvious Buzz felt that he wasn't getting the kind of love he was used to getting," Marotta said. "If coaches feel like they aren't loved, they get upset. That was the case here. I'm sure people were unhappy with the season. But these guys have big egos and they want to have them stroked."

Marquette was not invited to the NCAA basketball basketball or the NIT. It finished the season with four straight losses and a 17-15 record.

Marotta said Marquette had a quality basketball program and would be able to attract a high-quality candidate. "We will have a great coach," Marotta said. "We are in a position to hire a tremendous coach. The fundamentals in our program are outstanding. We've seen guys come and go. It's the way it goes."

But Williams, he said, was leaving with Marquette in a defensive posture. Father Robert Wild is serving as president in an interim capacity, replacing Father Scott Pilarz who resigned as president. And former athletic director Larry Williams stepped down after clashes with Williams, and was replaced on an interim basis by Bill Cords, a former Marquette athletic director.

"We've been caught a little bit with our guard down in some very key positions," Marotta said of Wild and Cords. "I'm not blaming them. They should be commended for coming back."

That's really interesting.  Marotta is one of those guys who would be well connected inside MU.  One would expect that if there was any of this "MU showed Buzz the door" Marotta wouldn't have said ..

Can't you interpret this as "MU wanted Buzz to leave?"  That's how I see it.

Let's wait and see what comes out over the course of the next few months. I get the feeling there will be some 'buried bodies' unearthed.

Seven years ago Buzz was an assistant b-ball coach, probably making a minimum salary.  Now his ego was not stroked enough and not feeling the love.  Jeezzzzzzz.

Exactly. At least this season gave him a glimpse of how it will be in the ACC for him.
