Title: In the Steve Masiello camp
Post by: Blackhat on March 21, 2014, 05:35:56 PM
Young, energetic coach who has proven he can recruit...

Get it done MU, don't be lazy with Wardle.

He's got that Pitino smarm down to a tee. Wonder if he has a white suit in his closet.

No. You don't hire a shitbag after winning or taking a good team to the wire in the tournament.

I'd sell my soul for Shack Smart.

We'd probably have to move into the big 10.

Manhattan looked awesome last night - better than most teams that moved on yesterday. Sign me up for the Masiello camp.

I love Masiello - nyc guy ans former ny knick ballboy - an MSG gym rat.  my family all went to Manhattan. All big fans that follow the team closely. Not sure where he'd fall on my list, but he fits the profile - young w/ upside.

Howland would be a much better option. 80% of you guys on this board didn't even know who Masiello was until last night, smh.

The young, energetic recruiting coach type hire has served MU well.

Keep it going, don't go for the guy looking for his retirement check.

My vote is for Masiello, Smart, or Marahall if any of these guys are interested.

Hell no to Howland. No thanks. Everyone seems to hate playing for the guy.

I think Howland's style of basketball would bore me to tears.  Much rather have an up tempo kind of guy.  Always loved Pitino's teams.  If Masiello learned anything from Pitino (and I think he did), I think he could be an excellent choice.  I would support that.  Not interest in Howland or Wardle.

Same here. Plus he actually played in college at UK (granted as a walk-on), unlike Crean and Buzz, who have the same lackluster HS resume as me. Plus, being an NYC guy, he likely views the Big East & MSG as a positive (or at least not a negative like Buzz did). Would really like to see what he could do with the current roster. Seems like an upbeat energetic likeable guy too. As a total package, I view him as a potential upgrade (which is saying something given how I view Buzz).

What possible difference does the name recognition by people on MU Scoop have to do with how good a coach Masiello is?

Doesn't Masiello seem like the type of guy who uses MU for a few years and moves on?

Well all you guys say Bo Ryan plays boring basketball, but the Badgers are in the Tourney and we are looking in. Give me a coach that wins and I won't care what style of basketball they play.

Can you imagine Hopkins coming here and installing the 2-3?!

Oh, the boards may be wanting the Badger Bruising D instead! lol

Really?  I went to MU and UW so I don't have the rabid hate for UW that most do.  Also I love college basketball.  However, I cannot stand to watch Wisky play.  Just bores me to tears. Like watching baseball.  Ugh.

Being a blue blood with an opening.  I think he's close to Brad Stevens status.  He's not leaving for anything but an elite college

Or he may be Wisconsin's next coach when Bo retires.

Nothin' would stop him from spendin' a few years here before boltin' for Madison, doe. People are too hell bent on this job bein' a destination. Chit, it's a different era. Take what you can get and then deal with it. Ya know, it's also a 2 way street. We can Buzzcut any coach if he doesn't perform.
