Of course he cries. And most will think it's genuine. On to the next one!
Kick him out. Need to get the stench of chewing tobacco out of the new coach's office.
In Ben (Howland) we trust!(?)
Dana Altman/ Billy Donovan all over again?
He's not our coach anymore....tell him to make his statement at the airport.
Does he give the "car with the leaky radiator" speech? ?-(
Three years from now he'll be crying at VT after they go 38-53 and he is let go.

I have to say, brilliant move on Howland's part to throw his hat in the ring ASAP. It worked on me. I want someone that wants us, and he's a bona fide DI coach with big-time success.

Buzz is dead
Keep the statement. Tell your players, and get out of town.
I'm going to be completely honest. When I was a freshman at MU (2007-08) and I found out Crean left for Indiana, I was genuinely happy for him for A) what he had done for the program and B) the job he was stepping in to (one of the premier positions in the country).
However, finding out Buzz left for Virginia Tech today put a huge pit in my stomach. All the speeches about family, togetherness and "I'll be here as long as they'll have me" I guess meant nothing against the possibility of coaching at Virginia Tech - a traditional bottom-feeder in the ACC (basketball-wise).
I am sincerely appreciative of everything he has done he, no doubt. But, if you're going to leave Marquette (not fired), at least leave for a better job, man. Heck, I would have been content had it been Boston College (big city, catholic school, still ACC). I honestly had to look up the last coach they had (after Greenberg), because I couldn't tell you what the guy looked like, let alone his name.

I'm the exact opposite....Crean left before my senior year, I was devastated (turns out I really should not have been devastated). The last six years, have taught me however, that the program is bigger than any one individual. Marquette will be ok.

This
Charge him rent for speaking on MU property
There's a story circulating that he was given new rules to play by that he didn't agree with.
Admin was not happy about numerous past situations surrounding Todd Mayo and going back further to Vander.
Word is that the administration is not unhappy about him leaving.

What administration? He doesn't have a boss and his lack-of-boss doesn't even have a boss
