I say Chew.
Better call Saul. Wisconsin roots, wants something bigger than NDSU. Pretty sure he will at least get a call on this.
I'm gonna say Chew...At least we might be able to keep Ahmed Hill then.
Phil Jackson
I wonder if Wardle will get a call...
already rumors of Howland, Wardle.
No question — Tony Bennett!

i could see it happening.. good call (no pun intended)
Howland

Former UCLA coach Ben Howland wants Marquette. He wants back in the Big East. He makes sense to continue similar path of play.
Apparently he's already in virginia lol.... Couldn't get outta here quick enough
Shaka, Howland, Wardle, in that order.
I really really really want Shaka though... And if not, then Howland or Chew
Someone who appreciates Marquette, its students, faculty, community and history as much as we here on the Scoop do.
It better not be Wardle but that is the rumor.
Shaka, Howland if that doesn't happen.

This!!!
You get somebody who wants to be at MU and of that list find the very very very best BBall person in that group. Take a look at most all of the great programs. They have one thing in common. A coach that stayed for a long time.
I would have never thought that I would say this. But Wardle doesnt sound bad. Im sure MU could get a bigger name. But would that "Name" just leave in a few years?
Wardle makes sense. MU ties and he just felt the wrath of being a low mid-major coach this season.
He seems a little crean like if you ask me. (not in a good way)
Forget returning to SMU - we are aiming for Horizon league + then...

I know people in Green Bay who aren't even impressed with Wardle
Saul or Cuonzo Martin (Jon Harris lead assistant)
Shaka
Chew
Howland
No offense to Wardle, but please NO.....just No
Chew. There's a reason we overbid Illinois for him. With the way Chicago churns out recruits, we need the connection.
What don't you guys like about Wardle?
Is Shaka Smart a legitimate candidate? I'm deeply in love with our program, but even I know we don't have the pull of a Kentucky or Kansas to lure a great coach away from a solid program.
I'd say Chew, if only because he gives us the best chance of keeping our promising young and incoming players around.

What's not to like? Top 5 budget in the country, nba arena, good history, good conference, and a plane haha.... Not to mention a hefty pay raise
I am confused why the first person people mention is the same coach people use as an example for how a coach should come out and say he doesn't want to leave his current school.
We'll... except if it is leave to come to our school
Wardle?? Oh man. Guy hasn't done enough to get this job. Taking the easy way out.
Wardle needs to prove he can build UWGB up more.
Go for Harvard coach or Wichita state
No Wardle!!!!!
Howland, Marshall
Barring a home run like Shaka, Howland. He wants to be here, and that sounds great to me. Need a full body and since he's been around he won't have his head up his butt and one foot out the door.
I don't see us getting Shaka. Howland or Chew would be good. Not too sure about Wardle. I don't think we would get Amaker either.

I say we go after anybody who hasn't promised he'll stay at his current school "as long as they'll have me."

I totally agree. But he's had offers from big-time programs before.
Chew is a no. Need coach with experience. Don't see Smart leaving. Howland would be great, keep Chew as assistant.

Why would you want Amaker? He failed at Setan Hall and Michigan
Danny Manning's name should be thrown out there.

Something tells me he'd consider MU seriously....maybe it's just the fact I bleed blue and gold but whatever I still think they'd be doing a disservice to the program to not look into it
This is a very important Coaching transition for the MU basketball program. MU could very easily slump into a state of mediocracy (aka the 90's), if it does not make a splash with it's coaching hire. Now would not be the time to be taking a risk with an up and coming, unproven coach (i.e. Wardle)! It is crucial that MU hires a coach with a National Reputation (i.e. Howland). It is really too bad that Bruce Pearl is off the market.

Disagree. He actually played the game. Much better game coach.
No Wardle, has bad ties and claps too much like Crean.
No Bo Ryan coaches either.

Well that went downhill quickly...
Marshall or Shaka in a NY minute. Big fookin' no to Wardle and Chew.

Say what you want, but Pearl can sell anyone a use car. Guy is a marketing genius. I'd also endorse Manning and Shaka too!
Tom Crean.
If Wardle gets this job...it's a joke...at this stage in game MU should get a much more accomplished coach than Wardle.
Saul Phillips at NDSU is a Wisconsin guy, very likable, gotten great results at NDSU. He better get an interview. Howland - yes. Shaka - absolutely. Amaker - yes....
MU needs to move quickly and get things stabilized with existing players, and incoming recruits. Have to retain core talent - Burton, Mayo, Dawson, JJJ, Fischer, Duane - and Ahmed Hill (likely will be gone with Buzz...what comes of Cohen/Pierce?)
In some ways, Buzz leaving may be a blessing and actually help to retain JJJ, Dawson, Burton..

I love this idea. Great pedigree as a player and as an assistant coach
