Obviously a coach doesn't get stupid in one year.  Buzz has been successful but if you look at the success it has been built on him inspiring players to overachieve with effort and hustle. When we did lose in the tournament it was usually getting blown out by a more talented team. Obviously buzz's strength is his emotion and connecting with players that way. Makes you wonder if that part isn't working does he have any game management skills. This year he seemed to get out coached quite a bit.

I can't get my mind around it. I get why he sat him around the under 8. Had a bad turnover, and missed the cutter on defense for a layup. He needed a blow.

What drives me nuts about it is that a lot of guys stunk on defense tonight. Mayo gave up 12 points on lazy closeouts on four threes. Derrick couldn't hold Christon at all. Jamil got beat off the bounce, and committed a couple of baffling fouls. Davante was Davante.

Buzz has protected those guys in the past by subbing offense for defense, especially down the stretch of games. Why didn't he do that with Burton? Instead, he sat his best player on offense for 7+ minutes. A stretch were Xavier scored on 11 of 14 possessions.

Just doesn't make sense.

I think I might actually agree with this...

@PaintTouches True, plus playing the freshman extensively down stretch would be a subtle insult towards his seniors + ruin "chemistry"

Nothing solidifies Team Chemistry better than yet another defeat

No kidding. If the seniors would rather lose together than win with a freshman in down the stretch, there's way bigger problems with this team than substitutions.

It worked with the Alamo. Well, not for the guys in the Alamo, mind you, but for the other Texans, that is.

It's true. Texans never shut up about it

When I was overseas with PepsiCo Foods International I kept a house in Plano. I hired some kids to manage the yard work - Travis, Austin, and Bowie. I was told these are common names in those parts.

Defense relates more with work effort. Offense relates to talent and work effort but not the type appreciated by Buzz. So  offensive players largely sit freshman year. Wonder what Buzz would have done with McDermitt as a freshman? Where is the great defensive play in Dougie?

2 out of my 17 employees have one of those names

Man, if that's really what Buzz thinks then MU might want to think a little more about how it spends its money. That's just unspeakably, incomprehensibly stupid.
