Time to become the bid stealer. Every year some team comes out of nowhere to take a bid away from a team more deserving; this year that team is us. We got a few things going for us.
1. We usually play well the first round of BEAST tourney
2. If you play Creighton, they dont have the NYC experience that we have
3. Nova can always lose before they should
4. MU can beat this Providence team on a neutral court.
How bout this team just shuts all the haters up on this board and goes on a run. Just for old time sake.
I think it can happen.
The team fought super super hard last night coming back from 11 down to have a great chance to win on a tough court.
Time is now
O yea Marquette once again is giving up Losing for Lent!!
This guy is ready!
I love it. I'm down right now after the loss last night, but I don't quit on our chances until the tournament field is set. Do I logically think we'll get in? No. But that's what makes being a fan fun...sticking with it and believing in the impossible and having it actually happen is SO much more rewarding than being the fan who packed it in and said "it's over."
RING OUT AHOYA!
We have all seen what Buzz has done in the previous years. I have been waiting for him to rally the team on 4 or 5 different occasions and hasnt. This is his last chance to do so.
I believe upsets will happen in the conference tourny and we could steal a bid.
I will not give up on this team untill seasons over
I like the optimism! Im going to wear my "Mr. Positive Uno" shirt for the Big East tournament. No use dwelling on the loss anymore its done. Use the St. Johns game as prep and let the boys go to work. Doesnt need to be pretty. Survive and advance.
Lets be honest though guys. Last night did not lose anything for us. We were not getting in with a win or a win vs st johns. We are in the same position as yesterday we need to win the BET to get in and its still open.
I'm ready. This team was picked to finish 1st for a reason.
Although last night was a bummer, I can honestly say if this team played like that all season they would be a lock for the tournament. We need some good vibes on this site.
I won't believe we're in the NIT, until I'm watching us in the NIT.
Also, I think we've clinched the 6th spot, at worst, meaning no more than 3 games in NYC. Probable, no. Doable, YES.
Probability of Auto Bid: 3.26%
Better than zero.

No, with a loss and. Georgetown win, pretty sure MU would be 7th. That said, I suspect they win Saturday and end up in that 4/5 game against Providence.
Changed my signature for the occasion.

No, because we beat GT twice this year. I believe that gives us the tiebreaker over them.
I admire your true-fanatic optimism, Kenosha.
Let's go get that trophy!
Also, lets not forget. It is very, very difficult to beat a team 3 times in the same season. Bodes well for a Creighton or Nova matchup. Yay positivity!
Not something I would predict, but Ill admit, its not completely far fetched either. With the exception of Crieghton (who hasn't played real well the last week or two), MU has beaten or at least played with everyone, including Vilannova. Played with obviously doesn't get it done, but it at least provides a reason to watch.

That is actually not true. When teams face each other 3 times and have already beat them twice than the same team usually wins again. One of those weird myths in sports. But yea love the positivity.
Time for these Warriors to get some scalps!!

Dont ruin my vibe Kenosha! Maybe it plays more of an affect in high school. I always thought that to be true.
I'm ready to win 3 in NYC!
This is the first season under Buzz that we've needed to win out to dance...and I think he and the guys will be up to the challenge. Let's go push a team off the bubble!
On March 15th all I want to hear is. "With that the bubble shrinks by 1 with the miraculous run we just witnessed by Marquette in this Big East tournament."
Reminder...

I can see it now: Big Shot Todd with the juke and step-back fadeaway on the McDermott mismatch for the game!
OOOOOHHHHHHH KILLLLEEEEMMMMMM TODDDD

Well then I guess there's only one thing left to do. Win the whole f-in thing.

Alleluia! This is exactly how I feel. That game meant alot more to PC and they got lucky as hell to come out with a win. We know what we have to do. Let's see what these guys have.
Lets rename this the Official BET Rally Thread!!!
Marquette:
Giving up losing for Lent
Win game 1 and anything can happen.
The pope is a Jesuit and lent started. ITS OUR DESTINY.
How bout a route of Providence, SHU, Butler for the auto bid

You may not have noticed, but there's a whole lot of Catholic in our conference. Tough for God to choose.

Pretty sure this cliche \ myth has been debunked for football and basketball the last few years. Somewhere there is an article or two on it which I'll try to find.

After witnessing the meltdown on this board, I decided to break from the norm of my usual "read only" behavior and post that the season isn't over yet. Yeah, we're probably not going to run the table in the BET but I'm still excited to see if it can be done.

Exactly. We all know MU has the talent. We also know this years BE is weaker than prior years. Why not MU? No better redemption for the bad season then running the table and sneaking in. Being optimistic hasn't hurt anyone.

This just about sums up my attitude perfectly. What does it hurt being optimistic for another (hopefully) 11 days?
I'm ready!

We are that team. We're taking away Wisconsin's bid. I read it on this site a couple of weeks ago.

Yep, it's a cute general statement but doesn't take into consideration that once they get the first two, they usually win the third.

That would be unreal. I'd start going to church if that happened, because God is for real and he's a Marquette fan.
No one thought the '97 MU team could win the CUSA title either. That team was far less talented than this one. But they ran off 4 games in 4 days to win it and get in the NCAA's, before getting their doors blown off by Providence and Austin Croshere. :-\

Far less talented? I'll concede Gardner but who else from this team would you take over Hutch, Pieper, Crawford and Abraham? The guards are a no brainer and Crawford was more consistent than Jamil.
Unfortunately, I was @ that Providence game. Still mutter every time I see Croshere.

Gordon Bombay took a team full of 1-star recruits to the finals...
Let's get this trophy!!!
3 wins is a helluva lot easier than 4 or 5 like it was in the old BE.
Every team has hot and cold runs throughout the season. I think we are still due for another 3 game hot run.
Let's do it.
Also, a silver lining...this is probably the most interested I've been in the BET tournament since we joined
