Title: Grow Up
Post by: Dienerfor3 on March 04, 2014, 11:01:13 PM
It's unbelievably frustrating, I know. And to devote 3 hours to that to have it end that way, and have many frustrating things happen along the way...along with the entire season, I know it is incredibly frustrating. But grow up. They're student-athletes representing the school as best as they can. They fought hard tonight and kept coming back every time they were knocked down

Correction. Certain players kept coming back.

Only to be pulled down by the worst back court in Division 3 history and most notably the PG.

I agree.

All blame and frustration should be directed at Buzz and only Buzz.  And I'm sure he would tell you as much.

Exactly. All we did was sit on a couch and complain.

You hit the nail on the head.

Am I frustrated?  Of course.  But am I going to rip on kids who played their hearts out, even if didn't have a good game?  No I won't sink that low

If the school is blowing more than $300,000 on each of these players during the season, I would expect more out of them and to not be dumb.

It's one thing being an idiot in class, but that last minute...

Spot on.  Extremely frustrating, but without Jake hitting that huge 3 where would we have been.  Without D. Wilson's defense where would we be.  Extremely frustrating, but the entire year has been that way so pause before posting negative comments about specific players.  They certainly battled and clawed back each time they were down.

It was a hell of a game...guys played their hearts out.  Far and away the most entertaining game of the year.  Obviously, an extremely frustrating ending....but hard fought.

+1000

They played a great game and kept coming back. But for a little home cooking by the refs, they might have pulled it out.

I'll tell you right now, we would be in no worse position that's forsure.

Now without Todd Or Davante. Were lucky to beat Navy.

Our kids did their best. Just ran out of gas at the end and made some mistakes.  Most of us knew that free throws would beat us the second half

Good post. That damn surge in emotion clouds the thinking part of the brain for a few minutes after a game like this. Most are best served staying away from their keyboard for 15-20 minutes after the game to regain some composure. I'm usually no exception.

Good teams find a way to win these.  Today was a microcosm of the season.  Jake should know better.  We are who we are... A team who 's starters scored <75% of our points..... Starters who don't put up even 50% of what our bench does. This one is on the coach again

We had such an advantage as far as depth, and what we should have had in the gas tank so to speak, as Providence is so thin..has such little depth...Cotton never comes out for a minute...unbelievable player.

Here's the thing...everyone laughs at the grayheads in the stands...do you realize how much fucking money they pay for their seats?  They have earned the right to bitch about the play this year and the job their seven figure coach has done....

Agreed.

I agree that much of the anger should be directed at Buzz, but I think he's too stubborn to admit he's doing anything wrong.  How many years does he have to be a head coach before he's not given the benefit of every doubt because he's "young" and will learn from his mistakes.  I haven't seen him learn anything this year.

Sorry if the "boys" and the coach you own due to your "investment" are disappointing to you. Perhaps a public whipping for the lot of them is in order.

God are you a tool.

I'll cosign. Earned was the wrong term. You don't earn seat s you buy them. You don't buy respect, you earn it. You sure as hell don't earn respect by bitching, not mine at least.

Thus, I will continue to laugh at these greyhairs that somehow feel entitled to something other than entertainment for attending a basketball game

Trust me...the school is not "blowing $300,000" on any of them! This program makes that hand over fist from the hard work, dedication and sweat and tears of all of them. I think you need to setyoursight on another topic. This one is insane.

The students more than make up the money we spend on them. Ticket sales, consessions, merchandise, appearances, donations, increased applications, TV money, are just the first few things that come to mind. These kids, even this sub-par team, more than pay back the investment we make in them.
