Maybe a little premature...but what's everyone's perception of how likely Big East teams will fare in tourney - I project:
Creighton Elite 8
Villanova Elite 8
Xavier - Lose Round 1 as 8 seed
St. John's - Round of 32
GTown (if they get in) - Lose 1st round
Overall performance might be better, as I'm beginning to think the Big East is really a strong league..maybe 2nd best after Big 10. But X and GTown have some good non con wins...as does Nova...even lowly Butler was able to play well against Oklahoma State and LSU..and of course we were decent against Wisconsin even without Mayo available...
Gonna be a wild NCAA tourney - Greg Anthony said he felt there were 20-25 teams that are all in the mix that could win it...such a high amount of parity in college ball these days..
In all honesty i dont believe big east gets past the s16
I think Creighton will do well. I have high hopes for Nova. St Johns could get a win, and I think X is a one and done.
In any case, I'll be rooting hard for all of them.
Creighton is a bad match up for nova which was seen during conference, the problem is with Creighton not having a true 5 or lots of size. Unless they get a perfect road of match ups for their style I see them struggling unfortunatly.
Nova has Final 4 potential. Creighton has elite 8 potential, assuming they didn't go cold from 3. I honestly think if SJU gets hot, they could be the surprise team of the tournament. Lots of talent there. The rest are probably done after the first weekend.

That is how I feel. However, if
Creighton shoots like they can they can go pretty far.
As I said in another thread a week or two ago....if MU and Georgetown both had 2 more OOC wins (totally possible, and will happen often in the future) 7 teams for the Big East would be a legit possibility, with really only Providence and StJ on the bubble. Even Stj and Providence could easily have won a few more OOC. This league is way better than people give it credit for. It will look like the Big 12 does this year quite often. bottom line is this conference had a worst case scenario non-conference performance, which is a bummer in the league's first year, but long-term the BE is positioned very strongly.
That said, it looks like 5 bids this year with Creighton, X, Nova, St Johns and Providence. 4 is possible but I think it will ultimately be 5. Hoping MU can still sneak in somehow but obviously looking very bleak.

If MU has a good week it's possible only 3 get in.
Only 4 teams get in
It's a crapshoot, depends who you play, but I'll be Kreskin....
Creighton Sweet 16
Nova Sweet 16
Xavier Round of 32
Providence \ St John's (only one) Lose first game

If we're that third team I'm ok with it!
But also I think Nova elite 8
Creighton upset in 32. The tournament brings out two things good defense and good coaching. Defensively I don't think Creighton's going to cut it and coachingwise I think McDermott's outclassed unless they get a very favorable seed.
If Creighton has to face a long, athletic team like Wichita, they are toast early. However if they get matched up with some teams that lack height, like Wisconsin, I think they can do some damage.
It's all about match-ups.
You guys still think St. John's is going to make the tournament even if they lose to us on Saturday? I don't, barring a deep run in BET. I don't see Georgetown making it either unless they win both their final conference games against the league's top two teams. Providence will have to beat us tonight. Xavier will lose their last game against Nova. Going into the BET I think it will be a toss up for all teams, including MU, to make a run and grab a spot. Given that whoever wins the tourney gets a spot, I could see 4 Big East teams if either Creighton or Nova don't make the conference tourney championship.
