By UVA. Bennett's got himself a keeper.
Wonder if a court stormin' is in order, hey?
These days? Probably. Maybe Boeheim will throw a punch.
Personally, a 12 beating a 4 is not cause for a court storming
tony bennett is a gem as was his daddy-wisconsin should be proud
Strange. They are celebrating being regular season ACC champions. There is no such distinction in the ACC. No trophy. No banner. They won the one seed in the acct. It's been that way since the very beginning. It's my understanding that every team makes their own banner except Duke and UNC.
On another note - if Jeremy grant has a bad back, why play him at all? These games mean nothing to SU. They will be no worse than a 2 seed. U can't fight through a bad back.

UVa is really coming together. Early in the season they wanted to rely on Joe Harris too much. As others developed around him they have become very dangerous. Well coached and a solid assortment of players.
UVA is a great team this year. But they are a tad bit overranked if you ask me. They had one of the easiest ACC schedules I have ever seen. The teams they played home and away were Maryland, Florida State, Notre Dame, and Virginia Tech. Not a single winning conference record in that group. They went 2-1 against the other ranked ACC teams and those two victories were at home. They also got to play UNC before they got it together and Cuse when they were spiraling.
That being said, still a great team this year. Good for them.

I'm more okay with that one. Even though Kentucky is 18th now, they were the preseason #1

Kinda like Crean last year, hey?
It is really all about who is hot in the ACC tournament. UNC is on a roll right now but had a lousy start to season. UVA made the most of the opportunity their weak conference schedule provided. This is actually one of the reasons I like this new big easy, the full round robin is much more interesting and equitable.
Good day for court stormin' as 'Boys in Stillwater won't be outdone after brandin' the Rock Chalkers.

I agree with this. IMO, this is the type of team that could be upset prior to the Sweet 16.

They are good defensively but they are like SLU, good defense, average offense. I wouldn't mind seeing them in my bracket.

Imagine the conversations here or at Wisconsin if the first four years were like this
Year One 15-16 No post season
Year Two 16-15 No post season
Year Three 22-10 NCAA loss in first game to a 7 seed 71-45
Year Four 23-12 NIT Quarterfinals
There are having a fantastic year in his fifth year and hopefully he keeps it going for them. I just wonder how much patience people around here would have had.

I don't think you can compare BBall only schools with football schools. Here we have a lot less room for error and time to let coaches develop as it's really all we have. I know we have other sports but even college hockey dwarfs Lax and Soccer and Volleyball in attendance. So consequently we need coaches to produce a bit quicker than say Virginia.

Just another reason to wait 5 years to fully judge. Some people would have hung the poor bastard after going backwards to the NIT and losing by nearly 30 in his first NCAA game. Fans are a funny bunch.

How much patience have they had? Are you trolling the boards, roving around their campus, talking to the heavy hitters, etc.? For all I know, they have been just as "impatient" as we would have been given those 4 years.

I have no idea how patient they have been. Asking the question how patient people here would be. Its easy to say a guy is a gem in a year like this year, just as it is easy to say Jay Wright should be fired in a year like Nova had two years ago. I'm just curious how gem worthy he was in years 1, 2, 4. Fans are a funny (often ridiculous) bunch.
We would have run Buzz out of town if the last four years had been like Virginia's last four. However, the starting points are very different so it is an apples and oranges comparison.
Sports aren't that big a deal at UVA. When the teams are going good everybody is a fan, when teams are going bad everybody is pretty indifferent.
In the 70's there was a lot of pride on campus regarding the awefulness of the football team.

I'm not disagreeing with the time it takes to judge but all the same there's a different standard when your school relies on a program as opposed to when it has one or two other major programs (yes I'm counting hockey) to distract boosters, and students.
