gonna be scrutinized a bit after this.. no?
I think it's officially time to get rid of court storming forever. We can't trust the player-fan relationship enough to let things like this go on.
On the bright side, I have never heard of Utah Valley University until today!

We have a call center in that town, many of the college kids work for us to make extra money in customer service rolls.
They were in a conference with Houston Baptist, Texas Pan Am, Chicago State, NJIT previously. One of the worst basketball conferences in the country. Went to the WAC this year I believe.
Exactly why it should never happen.
What an idiot fan...Was anyone else hoping that the kid from NM St. would just deck him?

Any of them call in sick today with a broken jaw?
Any fan on the court should be free game for any player to go after. They are putting a player at risk and any player should be able to be pre-emptive in protecting themselves.
After the 1st couple times, the problem will be magically cured.
Those kids stormed the court to fight after the ball was thrown. They didn't storm because they won the game. If they hit, so be it.
SEC just released new fines regarding court or field storming. $5K for the first offense, $25K for the second, $50K for the third. 3 consecutive years of no violations resets the count. Crazy.
Does this mean a school might be a little more lenient when only looking at a $5K fine?

While I don't condone any of the actions in that video, the NM St. players that threw punches as well as the one that threw the ball at the player should be suspended a minimum of 1 game. the NM St. player that punched a fan should be kicked out for the season.
They need to be smarter than that. All that was initiated by a jackass move by a player throwing the ball at the opponent...unnecessary.
I actually don't have any issue with court storming, it has always been a part of the game and a great experience for everyone from the winning university.

You see the end of the South Carolina Kentucky game? Security desperately tried to keep South Carolina fans from storming the court after the beat Kentucky. They were unsuccessful and the announcers noted it cost South Carolina $25,000

I could see situations like this quickly escalating to empty or no student games

Don't worry they will pilfer the $25k from one of the academic departments.

Sounds like they should invest in more security then.
