It has been awhile since I heard an announcer root more fervently for a team than he did for Georgetown tonight. If I heard one more time about the Hoyas' guts and grit and heart I would have vomited, God, Dick, it's time to retire.

I hated it also, but they did have guts and grits and heart.
Bad Dick was in the house tonight ;D
Yeah--the guy is terrible.

Fine. So did the other team.
With like 2 minutes left he goes: "Wow Buzz is going for the d / off sub with Otule / Davante" KO: "He always does that!!"
Just brutal!
He has always blown. He makes more mistakes than any other announcer covering hoops. O'Neill is fun bc I'm waiting for him to lose it and drop 12 F bombs at any time.

I wouldn't get too excited about KO. During the broadcast tonight he said his proudest moment was when we won back to back Great Midwest titles. Uhm, ok KO....except we never won back to back titles when you were coach or anyone else for that matter. We've won exactly three conference titles in our history...1994...2003...2013

Oh I know I said above that he might have been drunk. Just thought the exchange of KO telling him was funny, no excitement!

KO drunk.....I would be flabbergasted.
He called Gardner "Dawson" numerous times tonight. He and Bill Walton may be the worst announcers in college basketball right now.
Stockton was pretty terrible.
I can't believe that neither announcer mentioned the officiating tonight. I'm not saying they should have called them out for bad calls, but how they called the game was a significant factor. I can't stand it when announcers just refuse to acknowledge the officiating even when it is a significant storyline in certain games. Bilas and others would have had plenty to say tonight.
BTW, I think the poor officiating helped us more than it hurt us in this game. Other than the tech and tripping foul on Jake, most of the ticky tack calls went our way. There was even a phantom foul against Gardner late in the game. If I were a Hoya fan I'd be pretty upset. When was the last time you saw two players foul out with more than 10 mins left in the game.
I'm honestly curious, who is a good announcer? Cause after every game, I see a thread b*tching about the announcing. They are all just noise to me, I don't really pay attention
I would love to see a crew of Raft and KO but theyre both color guys. I know were not on ESPN anymore but I was always a big Bilas fan. Gotelib can go suck a big one though...Ill never forget "Miami by a sizeable margin"

I tend to agree that complaining about announcers is over the top, but Stockton makes an inordinate amount of mistakes. As a Red Sox fan I'll never forget his call of Fisk's HR in game 6 of the 1975 World Series, but he doesn't seem to be able to keep up with the game. He's 71 now, which is a little old for a play by play guy.
I watch the game and listen to homer and Mac on 540..there is a lag and they don't match...but those guys are so much more enjoyable. Does no one else do this?

I watched the portions of the Oregon State-USC game that followed ours and was unexpectedly pleasantly surprised by Marques Johnson's color commentary.

You take that back. Bill Walton is amazing. Not up to snuff per se on what's going around college hoops, but that guy still brings a tremendous amount of life to a broadcoast. And he's just the color guy at any rate, so I love his anecdotes and assessments of players. Let the play-caller get all the nitty-gritty details of the game right.

Haven't heard him call a college game but he's awesome for NBA. Too bad he can't travel for that anymore. I'm guessing he just doesn't pay attention to everything surrounding the college game the way he was consumed by the NBA game.
