Option 1: Marquette
votes: 64
Option 2: Xavier
votes: 24
Option 3: Providence
votes: 0
Option 4: Saint John's
votes: 28
Option 5: Georgetown
votes: 0
For reference's sake:
Marquette: Currently 8-6. Remaining games: GTWN, @NOVA, @PROV, SJU
Xavier: Currently 8-6, Remaining games: @SJU, CREI, @HALL, NOVA
Providence: Currently 8-7, Remaining games: @HALL, MU, @CREI
Saint John's: Currently 8-7, Remaining games: XAV, DPL, @MU
Georgetown: Currently 7-8, Remaining games: @MU, CREI, @NOVA
I've got:
Marquette (11-7)
Saint John's (10-8)
Xavier (9-9)
Providence (8-10)
Georgetown (7-11)
Probably a little bit of a homer prediction, but I see as winning at home and @PROV. Toughest sell for me is the SJU game. Will depend on which teams show up.
My heart says Marquette, my head says St. Johns. Voted with my head.

I will wait until after tonights game between Xavier and St. John's to vote. As long as I am waiting. I will vote after Thursday game.
What are the tie-breakers?

These are only for seeding in the tournament. If two teams tie in the standings, the share the place.

Only losers believe that. If you're not the #1 seed in the BET then you didn't win a regular season championship. Everyone knows that. ;)
St. Johns seems to have the easiest schedule out of all of the teams listed. I think it will come down to whether we beat them or not.
Unfortunately, had to go with them.

St Johns is now 8-8, they need to win both DePaul and at MU. It comes down to whether or not they beat MU at the BC on Senior Day. If MU wins that game the best they can do is 9-9 and the minimum MU can do is 9-9 and MU will have swept St Johns, so I suppose that gives them the tiebreaker. I wouldn't bet on the Johnnies now.

St Johns beat Marquette in New York, so this is not accurate. St Johns may well have the tiebreaker over Marquette due to their victory against Creighton.
Sorry. Late to the thread. While I just picked MU, my judgment was colored by the fact that the Johnnies lost the other night and do appear to be slipping.
What I find amusing is that FS1 keeps talking like GTown is a tourney team. I would not be surprised at all to see them going 0-3 down the stretch. I suppose all of this chatter is routinely a snapshot in time look. Of course tonight is another near must game for us. We've seemingly had a lot of them this past month.

Yep. It wasnt more than a week ago that St. John's was more or less considered a lock by most here, based primarily on a few wins in a row. There was a thread started here predicting that Wisconsin would not make the tournamnet, based on a few losses in a row.

Georgetown has some good non con wins (Kansas State, Michigan State, VCU), so they are right on the cut line if the field was selected today. They have a very tough finishing stretch and they probably need 2 of 3 to get on the right side of the cut line. If they lose tonight, they are in serious trouble, as we are the most winnable regular season game they have left. That is why this game worries me from our perspective, because Georgetown absolutely has to have it (as do we, of course).

No doubt GTown has a chance and still sits ahead of us in the pecking order. So much to be decided in the next 10 days. I'm still of the opinion that if (big if) MU finds a way to go 3-1 and wins that first game at the Garden that we'll dance. Tall order, of course. It all continues tonight with another elimination game.
Hope Gtown doesn't make it. They have embarrassed the big east in recent years in the tournament. Would look better to have one less team in then have Georgetown get blown out by another 14 or 15 seed for the third straight year.

I waited and voted for MU.
If we can't lock up a tourney bid in the regular season, I want to finish anywhere that keeps us out of Creighton's half of the bracket. We're better off finishing 6th if it would keep us away from Creighton in the second round.
Finishing 6th means we have not locked up a bid. It means we lost our last three games.

Well, if Georgetown does make it this year they would be an 11 or 12 seed, so no chance of them being upset by a lesser seed. They were talking 5 possible Big East teams in the tournament. I think 2 to 4. Creighton & Nova obviously, probably Xavier, and maybe one more out of Marquette, St Johns, Providence & Georgetown.
